A Thrilling Journey with Unforgettable Characters!
"Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone" by Benjamin Stevenson is an absolute gem that captivated me from beginning to end. This mystery novel seamlessly combines intelligence, humor, intricate details, and unexpected twists, creating an extraordinary reading experience. One of the standout features of this novel is the exceptional narrator. Their wit, charm, and intelligence shine through every page, making the story incredibly engaging. The narrator's voice draws you in and establishes an instant connection, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in their world. I found myself laughing out loud at their clever observations and relishing their unique perspective on the events unfolding. The level of detail in this book is simply remarkable. The author masterfully paints vivid scenes, using rich descriptions that transport you directly into the heart of the story. It's this attention to detail that brings the characters and their actions to life, making them feel like real people with genuine emotions and motivations. But what truly sets this book apart is its twisty nature. Just when you think you've unraveled the truth, the author deftly introduces a surprising turn of events, leaving you gasping for breath and eagerly flipping through the pages to uncover what happens next. The twists are not mere gimmicks; they are cleverly woven into the narrative, creating a web of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat."Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone" is an outstanding work of fiction that combines intelligence, humor, and thrilling storytelling. It's a book that challenges your perceptions, keeps you guessing, and offers a fresh perspective on family dynamics and the consequences of our actions. Humorous, plenty of twists, and fun!
My kind of murder mystery. Of the cozy variety. Spend some time laughing out loud while trying to figure out who is behind the murders, yes, plural, at the Cunningham family reunion. Let’s get started.Do you love it when a narrator breaks the fourth wall? Yes? Me too. Our not so likable narrator, Ernest, sets the tone with his jokey manner and lures readers straight in. If the title alone doesn’t grab you, trust me, the beginning of the book will, right along with the equally clever storyline and characters, and you’ll never let go. What really held my attention was Ernest’s voice.Meet the Cunningham family, who’ve got plenty to hide and remember, everyone has killed someone. Two brothers, mom and stepfather, a stepsister, a couple of ex-wives, and everyone’s least favorite aunt of the ‘needs to schedule every moment’ variety while they’re stuck in a secluded snowed-in ski resort in Australia.A playful, humorous riff on crime fiction with plenty of twists that makes for a good old-fashioned fun read.

Best book opener i've ever read
This is a good book and I must say the first chapter is the best first chapter I've ever read...EVER! Which made me excited to read the rest. The middle tended to get a little heavy and I found myself skimming over what I didn't want to read as I didn't think it mattered. I tend to skim or skip paragraphs and do that often when I'm bored, don't care about scene details (that happens a lot in some books) or a part in a book freaks me out because the bad guy or whoever is just too scary for me. There's really no scary parts in this book though. The writing is good and I really enjoyed the author's sarcastic style. I have written a novel myself and some of his comments about editors had me in stitches--although he gave them a lot of praise in his "I'd like to thank" section. Anyway, overall a good book. It just gets a little slow and long in the middle. But, so what. It entertained me.

I selfishly removed a star since the author proved smarter than me.
I generally love to be "got" by storytellers, mostly because it happens so seldom. So I have to say in that regard this book was brilliant. And apparently, I am not quite as brilliant, hence my disappointment. But I'll have to say I was got. He got me, and I loved it. I could not put this book down. You will be immersed in the story trying to take notes on anything you have available and committing things to memory and going back to make sure that you read something right and you still probably will not figure this out until the answer is revealed and you slap your palm to your forehead (truly) and say of course! Why didn't I put that all together? Well, because I'm not a detective and I'm not Benjamin Stevenson. You will love this book, and if I'm being honest, I'd give it five stars.

Delivery in proper time and condition
The page quality is not that good. Otherwise Amazon delivery including the speed of delivery was quite good.

Hard work getting there
For the first fifth of the book I nearly threw it in multiple times, but persevered simply because I didn't think it reasonable to review a book I hadn't read. I didn't know whether I was reading a comedy or a mystery novel. After somewhat coming to terms with the long list of characters, things did improve slightly. In fairness, too, the story resolution(s) was/were clever. The book was different, with a crime writer narrator who was withholding information. We also had a curious setting - an Australian (!) ski resort during a snowstorm. But the standard gathering in the library was used for the eventual reveal(s) to give the novel a 'locked room' flavour. Our protagonist didn't narrate as such, but talked to his readers. The book was full of 'I'll tell you later' props, and conversations and investigations which should have been occurring just didn't happen. I was constantly reminded of the old "How do you keep an idiot in suspense?" joke. "I'll tell you later". Along the way, we had an inept police performance, the casual storing of a large amount of money and deaths which didn't seem to raise too many eyebrows etc.I can see this is a very popular book, partly I think, because of the style of presentation. For me, however, it was quite annoying, despite things coming together in the end.

Fun and entertaining mystery.
I really enjoyed this book. It is fun and interesting. I like the writing style and how the narrator is telling the story in a conversation style. This book is engaging and well written. The plot flows well and is suspenseful. The mystery is complex and interesting. I enjoyed the slow reveal as the hints were given and then the big reveal as it is solved. This is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it.

Snowed In
3.6⭐️ Quite a different take with the narrator, I quite enjoyed it. A family murder mystery shrouded with family secrets. Ernest's narration was informative and comical at times. This family defines dysfunctional. Looking for a fun style murder mystery that wants you to learn clues along the way and figure out whodunnit along with Ernest, you will enjoy this book. I did.

and now I’m going to be tired all day tomorrow…
An absolutely fabulous read, beautifully written and elegantly plotted. It’s a mystery and either the most or least formulaic you’ll ever read. You’re unlikely to guess the villain until just before the reveal. I loved this writer’s voice, which is unique, refreshing and driven. As in it drove me to read through the night. Thanks for that. And really, thanks for a great novel!
