Great for the home, but would not suggest camping
I have bought several of these and they work well. You must remember to keep these type of torches, power by lead acid battery, charged up or they will stop working. It great for lighting up a large area. There are a few problems. There is a light to show it is connect to the mains, but it does tell you when it is fully charged. This could be because it has a power failure mode where by the light comes on if the power fails (plug into the mains and switch the torch on). I would not use it for camping, as it suggest, as the clear plastic can crack easily. Also, when charging, do not have the torch facing down. This will result in the silver reflector being eaten away.

Well constructed
I got this torch a month ago. So far no faults. It has three settings, torch, which is a concentrated led beam from several leds, half led lantern and full led lantern. If you plug it in to the mains, and the mains goes off, the light will come onto whichever setting you've left it, providing emergency lighting. It charged via a figure of eight type lead which you plug into a short connector hidden behind a flap in the bottom of the torch. This to me is its only downfall, I would of preferred a wall bracket type charger so it could be mounted in a permanent place and ready for action. Seems very well constructed, but I wouldn't like to see how it fairs on a drop test, seems the lantern plastic cover could possibly be quite vulnerable in that circumstance. All in all though a lovely torch.

A Very Powerful Lamp (though large and quite heavy)
We wanted a torch for dog walking. As we walk in an unlit area, the torch needed to be bright, strong and with a wide beam. And this certainly is; probably more so than any torch we've had before. And being LED, it will last a long time between charges. The case does feel a little plasticy, particularly the switch. I'm a little concerned how it will do in the rain, though there is a picture of it being used in the rain on the product page, so I guess that's part of the design. And there's a two year guarantee, so perhaps there's no need to be too concerned. I would caution, though, that it's large and quite heavy. The fact that the charger is an integral part of the torch might account for that, but it's an unusual approach simply for the reasons of size and weight. Hopefully much of the weight is down to the battery, which will mean a long life. Although we don't plan to use it, the area lighting feature is very impressive, and will certainly come in very handy during a power cut.Overall I'm happy to recommend if you particularly want a powerful lamp, but please take account of the size and weight.

Beware: lead acid batteries!
Had to get the first one replaced - it stopped charging. The second one lasted for a while before, horror of horrors, the battery started leaking sulphuric acid on to my floor. So, BE WARNED: THE BATTERIES IN THIS ARE LEAD ACID. The specification does not make this clear and it should because it is a safety issue and because not making this clear can kind of fool buyers into thinking that, in common with many other similar product, they are getting a Li-ion mattery or similar. Amazon should take this up with the supplier.

Does not quite do what I need and still awaiting ...
Does not quite do what I need and still awaiting a further reply from supplier to my email below:-Thanks for your reply although if I unplug it and leave the battery to run down over time, the chances are that when there is a power cut the battery will be flat rendering the unit unusable??The reason I bought this unit was to have it ready and charged at all times for when a power cut occurs. From your reply it does not look as if this is the case. How long will the battery stay charged if it is not plugged in???RegardsNick Malandrinos

Duronic RL200
It's the 3rd one I have ordered. They each last for 2-3 years before typically the lead acid battery fails.Really nice bright output.I can live with them eventually failing so long as I get 2+ years out of them.

Nice and Bright!
This torch was bought as a present, but I have given it a quick test. It's a Big Torch, big and carries a fair weight behind it too. The beams are bright. The projector LED's are bright enough to illuminate the top of my garden at 25m. The flood light is bright enough to light a room 9m x 3m. I've not tested to see how long the batteries last nor how long it takes to recharge them.Pro's: Good and solid Bright light Socket (figure 8) to plug a mains lead into (no adapters)Cons: Power switch a bit small and cheapUnknown: Battery life Charging time
