Looks good but wool component is notable
Nice cut to the vest, but ultimately had to return. Wool was pretty scratchy, not terrible but not as soft as other Smartwool products I've used. Would have preferred zippers to the side pockets also so stuff doesn't fall out.

Warm and Comfortable
The warmth from this vest is almost like electric. I use it as a layer for X-Country skiing and generally for around 40 - 60 degrees.

Great vest, runs REALLY small.
I have a 46" chest and 36" waist, and wear an XL in most things (including Smartwool t-shirts). But even the XXL in this vest was too small for me - tight over a tee, and layering over more than that is a non-starter. If you're looking for a mid layer that fits like a sausage casing, order one size up; otherwise go up 2 sizes.

Fleece pills and shreds badly
Bought this, in Navy color, at a local store (not Amazon) and returned it after only 3 weeks of intermittent wear. New, this vest is beautiful, extremely soft, comfortable, and amazingly warm. I am very confident in Smartwool products and assumed this would live up to their normal quality. However, after only a week or two of intermittent wear, pilling of the outer fabric was very evident and shredding of the fabric along the edges of the hand-warmer pockets began to be noticeable. After only three weeks, of wear and no washings, the outer fabric was intolerably pilled and shredding along the edges. Other than the poor durability of the outer fabric, this is an awesome vest. So, if you don't mind the looks of the pilling, go for it.
