The box comes with a plastic tube containing 25 test strips and a giant printed user manual (with text that's too small for me to read any more). Still, the basics are printed on the tube. The dip sticks are easy to use, just dunk and swirl the stick in your water (2 swirls is the recommendation), and withdraw with the stick parallel to the water surface, allowing the water to sit. You should be able to read the general hardness (GH) and carbon hardness (KH) immediately, these are the pads closest to where you hold the stick. You'll need to wait only 30 seconds to read pH, and the nitrite (NO2) and nitrate (NO3) levels. You'll find the colour comparison chart on the label of the tube to interpret the results. Some may find the colour change for nitrates a little too subtle in the lowest end of the scale but the good news is that the results are reliable enough for quick and routine monitoring. You will need to keep them dry between use, so make sure your hands are dry when handling, and ensure you seal the tube properly between tests. The dip sticks are quick and convenient for routine testing, although I feel that they would be even more useful if they also tested for ammonia.
