Broke open in front
It was great until it broke open while wearing it and my cat fell out. The back straps are good but that front zipper and flap just busted right out like it was nothing. My cat fell out in a parking lot and fortunately was able to be retrieved but it could’ve gone a LOT worse.

Great carrier for the price! Works great for dogs with long legs!
This is the perfect backpack for traveling with a small, lightweight pet! I bought this backpack carrier before my trip with my 17lbs (7.5kg) mini poodle from the US to Europe. I had no problem getting him onto the multiple planes with this carrier (= it is airline approved) and it fit well under all seats (I flew JetBlue, Norwegian and TAP Portugal). He has a little too long legs to fit well in the carrier for longer periods of time, but once we were in the air I could open up the front and let him stretch out on the floor by my feet. We traveled quite extensively for 3 weeks and this carrier was put to good use during that time. It definitely looks a little beat up at this point, but for the price I paid I don't mind buying a new carrier for our next major trip if I have to. My dog is a little too heavy for the backpack so after awhile it started to sag in the back due to the weight, and the sides are not reinforced and quite "loose" and flimsy, but that also makes it so lightweight and easy to stow away when it is not being used so that's a pro or con depending on the weight of your pet.If I could add something to the design of the backpack it would be an optional shoulder strap for when you use it for airline travel. It is a little difficult to take it off your back and lay it down under the seat in front of you while the dog is sitting in the carrier (not sure that makes sense, but you are essentially going from an upright position to horizontal with your pet inside). It would be easier and more comfortable for the pet to board the plane while the bag is being used horizontally as a shoulder bag.Overall, a very good carrier that saves your back if you know you will be carrying your pet for extended periods of time. My dog loves it and jumps right into it when he sees it! I would definitely buy it again and recommend it for anyone with a pet 12lbs and below (my dog is a little to heavy for any backpack, but it worked well for us anyway). It is perfect for a toy poodle or maltese-sized breed!

Handy Pet Travel Backpack
I own a 7lb cat and this travel backpack has been really useful as I sometimes travel for longer stretches of time and take my cat with me. She has plenty of room (despite squashing her face against the mesh in the pic) and at least on United I haven’t had issues getting it under the seat in front of me.There are two pockets, one on each side, which has been fine for me as they can fit my small wallet, passport and cat paperwork. It won’t fit much more than that, so I did have a rolly bag as well. If you are in danger of getting your carry on checked, plan/pack accordingly.I gave this a 3 for sturdiness. It is soft sided which makes it easier to fit under seats, but you need to be very mindful of your pet while moving around. The main reason for the 3 is that after several uses, the handle at the top pulled off on one side. Not a big issue but slightly annoying.Overall, very happy with the purchase. As a bonus, when traveling with my pet, others can see her through the mesh and it makes a lot of people happy. Kids are particular fans.

It fits our needs but we selected something else for our cat
Purchased this because I wanted my 11.5lbs cat to sit up while in route, and lay down while flying. It was between this carrier and another backpack carrier, I selected the other one for a few reasons. Here are some pros and cons about this one that I can offer:Pros:- two sherpa pads are key in case you have an accident- reinforced snaps at the dual zippers- roll up clip for one of the screens (good if your pet wants to use as a bed when not traveling- company follows up for feedback and quality assurance- zippers seem sturdyCons:- It was a bit too stuffy for him, I wish it had a full side view panel.- It has a strong manufactured odor, might go away if you let it air out, but we needed it for the next day- Wish the sherpa was on the long side too, for when the bag is placed under the seat- mesh is a bit plasticy- wanted my cat to be able to lay down if we were en route, but this one had not enough floor space to do that (again, might be better for a dog)

Really nice bag but not what we were looking for
I really liked this pack but it just didn’t work out. I have a 17lb yorkie mix, I am looking for a pack that will double as a flight bag and a hiking bag. She’s just getting a little too old to hike the whole time so I need a bag I can put her in when she gets tired. As far as a flight bag... She was a little too big for the bag when zipped. Her head was pushing the top out when it was on the ground like I might have it under a flight seat. She didn’t seem very comfortable in it.As for hiking I put her in it for a walk, and popped open the top. It was okay for a short period of time. But she was uncomfortable and I didn’t have as much support as I would want for a long hike. This is pretty sturdy as far as the back and straps, top and bottom. The sides aren’t as sturdy so it make it a little uncomfortable for long hikes.I really liked this bag, I just need to find something a little bigger and sturdier.
