PitPat - Dog Activity Monitor (old version)

We have an old dog who has dementia and he does a lot of wandering about. We wanted to see how far he was walking and joked about getting a step counter to attach to his collar. Most human ones we looked at wouldn't have sat on his collar so when we saw this we decided to give it a go. You have to download an app that syncs with the device. It's very easy to use. It doesn't tell you how far they walk distance wise but it does tell you how many hours the walk, run or play. It also tells you the amount of time they spend resting and what they call pottering. Our old dog does a fair bit of pottering about. There is a small graph that also shows when your pet has been moving about. This has actually been useful to us as we didn't realise our dog was doing a lot of 'pottering' about during the night. Can highly recommend this and PitPat are amazing to deal with if you have any problems or even questions.

I purchased my Pitpat in May 2017 and it has functioned brilliantly since then only needing a battery after around 10 months.I have chosen to change the Velcro a coupe of times as my dog's hairs do block it up when he's shedding.Why am I writing an updated review in June 2018? Well the unit started to play up a few weeks ago..sometimes recording the data but other times nothing. I finally decided to contact Pitpat directly who couldn't explain the intermittent fault. Just 3 days after reporting the issue they've sent me a brand new Pitpat 2 free of charge and a reply-paid envelope to return the Pitpat back so their technical folk can learn about the fault.Overall I've been very happy with the initial unit and extremely impressed by their customer support.

Had this for about a month now. It has been in the sea, rain and lots of muddy walks. You have to put in the dogs breed, age, sex, weight and if they've been neutered. It will then tell you the daily amount of exercise (in minutes) per day. It will tell you how much time they've run, walked, played and rested for. It's for a neat graph to show and is very easy to set up the app and sync with your phone. I am very pleased I bought this PitPat!!UPDATE: For some reason the device would not sync in January, but I got in touch with pitpatpet and they were able to replace quickly. Excellent customer service!!

Don’t waste your money the old version does not do anything not compatible with the app, useless item, only fit for the bin

This product didn't turn out to be quite what I'd hoped. More basic than I thought. It worked well enough but sometimes took a little to long to load to the app, sometimes having to try more than once.

My husband bought me a PitPat on my birthday for the dog. We’ve had it just over 2 years and it’s just died. My dog has worn it everyday and is the clumsiest, craziest labradoodle around. The PitPat has been in the canal, the sea, many muddy puddles plus been rolled in grass on most walks and hasn’t faltered. The best thing it did was catch my husband out for not walking the dog whilst I was away overnight with work, I returned home to a dog who had 23.9 hours of rest! I’d definitely recommend.

The media could not be loaded. I didn't like that while I was using the device for the first week, I noticed that it had rubbed the fur and left a graze on my dogs skin, so now he has a bald patch , the device was very good initially apart from 5hat issue, the strap was to hard

I was quite disappointed with this device. It's made well enough and not too hefty, but the functionality is really minimal and the accompanying app is extremely light on features. I would have been ok with that if it was easy to access the data, but it only supports bluetooth syncing to the phone app.The app shows total minutes of activity in four categories, per day. That's it. Nothing else useful at all. Not only that, but it doesn't even get ot right.In conclusion, don't bother. Just look at your watch at the start and end of walks and you've covered it.

Dejó de funcionar al cabo de un mes sin ningún motivo aparente. No lo devuelvo porque no conservo la caja. En fin, 40 euros a la basura.

Dieser PitPatPet Tracker ist eine echt tolle Sache. Auf die Idee hat mich ein Freund in England gebracht. Man kann damit alle Aktivitäten des Hundes nachverfolgen, ob er gerannt ist oder „nur“ gegangen ist oder ob er gespielt hat. Sogar die täglichen Ziele lassen sich damit überprüfen. Das ganze funktioniert natürlich nur mit einer (Free) App. Und es funktioniert! In England soll schon die nächste Version erhältlich sein, hoffe, dass ich die auch bald hier bekomme. Fazit: Die Welt wird sich auch ohne PitPatPet weiterdrehen, aber eine interessantes und anregendes Gerät für alle die Hund+App zusammenbringen wollen und natürlich auch, wenn man wirklich auf ausreichende Aktivität bei seinem Hund achten muss.... gut soweit ist es bei mir noch nicht.

nach 4 Monaten wurden die angezeigten Daten immer spärlicher / falsch.Wir haben das Teil gekauft um die Aktivität unseres Hundes, der etwas zuviel auf den Rippen hat, zu erfassen bzw. ein Gefühl zu bekommen wo wir etwas ändern müssen. Das hat auch bis vor 3 Wochen auch sehr gut funktioniert.Dann allerdings haben sich die ausgelesenen Daten stark verändert obwohl die täglichen Gassirunden von den Strecken sowie der Aktivität sich nicht groß geändert haben. ( Die Fitnesstracker von Herrchen und Frauchen belegen das ) Trotz einer neuen Batterie ist es leider nicht besser geworden. Den Verkäufer habe ich zwei mal angeschrieben und leider keine Rückantwort erhalten, Schade. Dann wird das Teil halt ins Recycling wandern.
