Best of Schoolhouse Rock

I saw this and immediately was brought back to my youth so had to buy it. Now my children and I rock out in the car to tunes like 'Zero My Hero' and 'Conjunction Junction' . Very pleased!

I grew up in America in the 70's and these songs still stick with me. Thanks to these very catchy tunes, I have a pretty good grasp of grammar and most of what I remember about American History comes from these songs as well. I am now a teacher in Scotland and I have been teaching the grammar songs to my class. The tunes are great and the lyrics are really informative. The only problem with this CD is that you will get "Conjunction Junction" stuck in your head and it will drive you a bit mad. On the plus side, you will never forget that "and, but and or will get you pretty far."

3 is a magic number is the best song on it.

The themes and lyrics on this CD are so brilliant! I had forgotten about many of these songs that I grew up with. Although this is perfect for kids a bit older, my 4-year old is already singing how a bill becomes a law, and about conjunctions....She may not know exactly what they mean, but it's an amazing CD that can open them up to other songs and ideas --- that don't involve dumbing it down. I highly recommend this cd.

I used this for my 13yr old step-daughter, 12ry old, & 9yr old while studying the constitution. Not only have they memorized the preamble, they can't stop singing it. I find myself humming all the songs. Even my two year old is singing the songs. All the kids can effectively summerize the birth of this country, the functions of the constitution, a Bill and more. My 9yr old was having a hard time remembering her multiplication facts, but after listening to the songs; "Three is a Magic Number, My Hero Zero, Figure Eight..." just a couple of times it just clicked and she's flying through division now. My 13yr old is stuggling with language arts, but since listening to the songs; Unpack Your Adjectives, (my favorite) Conjunction Junction, & Interjections things clicked for her. Language Arts is no longer an overwhelming subject. All my kids found The Best of Schoolhouse Rocks to be a treat. They ask me to put it on while they're working, promising they'll work quietly and diligently. This is a win-win situation. They love it, I love it, even the 2yr old loves it. I also bought the DVD and even my "too cool" 13yr old watches it. This is not just for little kids. My 13, 12, & 9yr olds loaded it on their Ipod's!

I grew up with these songs and they are still very relevant for all generations! You can retain the messages and are useful when needed.

We borrowed this cd from our local library and the kids (6, 4 and 2)and I enjoyed it so much that I bought it. My favorites are "3 is a magic number" and "conjunction junction" not only because I remember them from when I watched schoolhouse rock on tv as a kid, but because they really are great songs. The kids like these and most of the others too. I also think the kids will learn a lot from the songs given the great content as they get older and can understand the educational message.
