Music from the Coffee Lands

This is a smooth easy-listening collection of tunes from various countries where coffee is grown (and drunk). I like the fact that there is a good mix of male and female singers on this album, it's not heavy one way or the other. There are a variety of styles represented on the album, so whatever it is you like, there should be some of it here. I find this album to be good for background music, when I'm reading or even writing. It's a quiet, unobtrusive album that you can listen to while chilling out. The lyrics are in a number of languages, none of which I speak, so they just flow past without troubling me. This is music for doing housework, or while working hunched over a computer all day at work, or while cleaning out the garage, and so forth. It would be good for playing at a party or get-together with friends, when everyone wants to relax. There are 12 songs on the album, so there is plenty of music, and it's a good value for what you pay for it. Plus, you can get it for a couple of bucks on the used music market, which is what I did. Long live Amazon's used books and music, it's always good to check and see if you can pick it up used...

I purchased this CD to replace the same which I loaned to my sister in law who seemed forget I did so. She claimed she searched her CD collection but never found it. It has been missing for several years. I was so glad to see that there was one available especially in such great condition & price! It helps me complete my music colection. I love Latin & other forms of World Music. This album has a great mix.

This is another excellent collection put out by Putamayo....and one I have repurchased several times because I wear out the CD! Great music collection.

Good Putumayo CD. Several very good tracks on this CD. 'Guajira Bonita' is fantastic, and reminds me of my trip to Peru hiking the Inca trail. Tracks 2, 3 are good as well, and then proceed to the wonderful Susana Baca with her bold, beautiful voice on 'Maria Lando'. 'Below the Bassline' is a wonderfully mellow Reggae sounding instrumental track that brings me back to all carribbean trips. 'Dilema' reminds me of my salsa adventure to Cuba, and 'Esa Noche' is a very good instrumental track with fantastic guitar that makes me yearn for returning to Mexico City or Oaxaca. Track 9, 10 are good as well. 'Este Son' will help you chill out with your cup of coffee. Highly recommend this CD if you enjoy Latin music, as well as international music. The pamphlet submitted with the CD about the artists is informtive and only adds to the enjoyment of the CD. A Putumayo Must!

I bought this CD as a birthday gift for my best friend, and she loves it. The songs are unusual, original and delightful.

Having just gotten into collecting world music rather than just listening to it on the radio....I am more than pleased with my latest acquisition of Coffee Lands music. The music on this CD is totally mellow. Every song on it is a keeper. If you want something different, this is a CD to consider.

My favorite CD. Some are hauntingly beautiful songs. Others are upbeat and make you want to dance. i loved it so much i bought several for family and friends!

Love this music reminds us of latin american holidays. Very relaxing but upbeat not dance club music but the type of music you hear from a live band in a hotel but not cheesy tourist rubbish, well put together and sound is great.

A relaxing and very enjoyable selection of music.

I ordered this CD after enjoying other more Latin influence CD,s from Putomayo and was not disappointed. It is very uplifting and relaxing and takes me to a sunny place each time I listen to it. I recommend this if you appreciate discovering new styles and enjoy a Latin influence.

Not one of the better collections. Vaguely Latin, a bit of salsa, but mouthing to write home about. Works as background music you don't notice.
