The ball winder comes already built, so it does take up some space, the only thing to do is attach the belt (it is attached to save the belt over stretching and it is recommended that the belt is removed when not in use). Lovely smooth turning action and makes winding yarn much quicker and easier.

Love it. Had a couple of the normal plastic winders previously but both broke. This is so smooth, little noise good quality and best of all no wool getting wrapped around the mechanism. Yes it is more expensive but definitely get what you pay for.

Its a bit more expensive than other ones, but the result and ease of use is so much better. The band drive makes it very quiet and smooth, and the solid weight means its stable in use. Bought as a present, the cheaper geared winders my wife had before are just not in the same league

This does everthing clained and I did not ahve any of the winding problems experienced by others but the table clamp - which looks as if it is well designed and would work well - simply has mismatched screws on the clamp and the washer. Wont hold at all!

So I got this off warehouse deals for just over £50. I was, admittedly, dubious. It's a lot fo money for something I'd had little luck with. I've used the jumbo metal ones and the little cream and red ones. They both just snarl up my yarn and are noisy as anything. This is, comparatively, whisper quiet. The volume of maybe an average conversation? It is also incredibly easy to use with a swift (not included). If I had known how good this was, I would have bought it straight away. The finish on the wood is nice too. The clamp holds to the table safely and easily. The cakes of yarn it produces are a nice shape - quite similarly thise made on a nostepinne. Tl;dr - if you can afford it, you WILL save the money in both not buying poor quality, short lived wool winders. And in not having your skeined yarn snarled up!

Bought for an avid knitter and crocheter. She loved it and said it made her life much easier for winding wool

Producto de gran calidad, la madera es bonita, tacto sedoso y con brillo medio. Muy cómoda, la mano se queda alejada de la parte que ovilla de forma que no hay riesgo de hacerse daño como en otras marcas. Sujeción estable a la mesa. Viene completamente montada (excepto las gomas). Tiene dos gomas, mientras que otras marcas solo tienen una. Eso sí, es grande y abulta, viene con una caja de cartón para guardarla que ocupa mucho sitio. Había probado dos otras marcas, esta es de muchísimo mejor calidad. Los ovillos salen perfectos, ovilla de forma muy rápida. La recomiendo, aunque salga más cara y abulte más que otras marcas (las devolví), merece la pena!

Sehr stabiler und wertiger Wollwickler. Er ist einfach aufzubauen und funktioniert problemlos. Alle Teile, egal aus Holz, Plastik oder Metall sind massiv und wirken daher stabil und langlebig. Der Wollwickler wickelt auch dicke Wolle zuverlässig auf und es entstehen schöne Knäule, die von innen oder außen heraus gut zu verstricken sind. Der Wollwickler kommt, in einzelneTeile zerlegt, in einem kleinen kompakten Pappkoffer. Dieser bietet sich auch zum wegstellen gut an, wenn das Gerät nicht benötigt wird.

Works great, well built. Extremely quiet unlike the plastic gear winders. Worth the investment if your planning on winding a lot. Only time will tell how will the bands will hold up.

Ook grotere bollen worden perfect gemaakt. Een streng garen van 1200 meter op 100 gram is geen enkel probleem
