Gripping and Inspiring
The bravery, grit and determination of Jenny Tough is nothing short of inspiring. Knowing that she, an incredibly accomplished adventurer, faces the same internal battles with mind and body as me, a “normal” lass with a desk job and a love of the outdoors, made me see myself in a different way and think that maybe one day I might be brave and gritty enough to do something scary and exciting like run across a mountain range on every continent ALONE.This isn’t a bright and shiny glamorous account. This book pays tribute to the countries Jenny visits and provides an honest, brutal and realistic retelling of what, at times, must have felt almost impossible.I could not put this down.

Bravery, Tenacity, Determination and Inspiration
Tough cookie. Jenny Tough is in her words 'not an athlete'. But she is an incredibly tenacious, strong willed and determined person who set out to run across a mountain range on 6 continents, solo. She is also extremely honest about the hardships, physical and mental that these challenges involved. From altitude sickness to crossing frozen swollen rivers, injury and self doubt and depression. Not to mention the constant anxiety instilled through others...don't do this, you're a woman, it's too dangerous, the next village has bad people.Yet, Jenny Tough proves that self belief and a belief that people are inherently kind and well meaning shows that with the right mindset, planning and a large dose of bravery...to take that first step, encounter and overcome setbacks, you can achieve anything.A brilliant account on the majesty and draw of the mountains and embracing the adventure of life.Chapeau Jenny Tough. Tough cookie indeed. 👏

Absolutely loved this book!
Thank you Jenny Tough for this amazing book… it was one of those books I just didn’t want to end. So many incredible stories and so well told - they have made me think differently about and challenge what I tell myself what I can do. Honestly I would love to attempt even a tiny fraction of the kind of adventures Jenny Tough has…. after reading this I think I might even try!

unpretentious adventure
I thought this would be good, but it exceeded my expectations. So many adventure books are about self-aggrandizing, but this one is refreshingly pragmatic. Instead of pursuing some obscure record and writing a book about being the first or the fastest to do some obscure task, Jenny makes up a challenge for herself, uses determination and problem-solving to accomplish it, and writes about the lessons it taught her.

Great read, one thought
I loved this books, especially Jenny Tough's humor and honesty. One consideration I would like to offer readers is, yes, women should get out and explore and not be afraid based on their gender. At the same time, do your homework and don't risk life for a record. Jenny describes situations in which a less experienced or lucky person (gender aside) could have died, e.g. the river crossing that she made. Be savvy, keep in mind that fatigue and stress can negatively impact decision making, and be prepared. Also, let's face it: women can be harassed based on gender. It sucks, but it's part of the reality of many areas. Jenny had good experiences with people and other female adventurers I've read about have too. Look for the good in people and keep your situational awareness up and treat every situation as new.

Beeindruckend
Schön geschrieben und absolut ehrlich. Sehr gut erzählt ohne die Dinge unnötig aufzublasen. Viele Episoden erinnern mich an eigene Erlebnisse in den Bergen.
