John Mayer

I’m new to John Mayer so still getting used a different style of music. There’s no doubt he can sing and play guitar and the guitar work when needed is very good. John tries many genres of music which makes it interesting enough for me to keep listening

I can't believe that this guy has been around for so long without his music connecting with listeners here in the UK. Maybe we thought he was just another 'pretty boy' trying to break the boy band market - wrong, wrong, wrong. I'm a fan of laid-back musicians like Little Feat and Bonnie Raitt who create a groove and 'feel' that really connects. While Mayer might not (yet) be in their league, here is a guy who is first and foremost a great musician who - over the course of this 5 disc collection - develops his craft in front of your ears. Not that the first album of this set is by any means prehistoric - it is stacked full of beautiful, mellow and instantly accessible music. Sometimes 'instant' isn't good - it can be a sugar-rush which fades soon after the first listen. This doesn't. This is rich, crafted music which feels alive, full of ear worms that are still grooving inside your head when you wake up in the morning. If you've not heard Mayer's music before, this is the perfect place to start. The set is beautifully packaged, incorporating the artwork from all five albums in a good-quality booklet. Put it on, and go with the flow.

I absolutely adore John Mayer's music, and this is a real bargain for any fan. You get 5 CD's, and a beautiful book section in the middle of the set which has lyrics, pictures etc printed on quality paper. The set looks beautiful and is a perfect gift for anyone. Due to the amount of CD's included in the set, there is a real variety of songs, so it is hard to not find one you like.However, the CD's can be a little tricky to remove from their places in the set, which scares me a little as I would not want to snap any of them!

I am new to John Mayer's talent, the first time I saw the DVD, it was so tender & moving and musically excellent I cried, and I am a 70yr old bass player,(tough & looks like an old boot), who by this measure is lacking in skills, bless you John, I highly recommend this superb DVD as an example of how modern blues type music should be interpreted, by a man and his band of immense talents.

Five albums in one box set, what more could you ask for. Each studio album has bonus tracks/B-sides. This collection shows how Mayer's music changed and matured with every album, going from the acoustic based Room For Squares to the Blues orientated Albums of Continuum and Battle Studies. The Trio live album Try! is one of the best Blues albums of the last decade, which includes some great covers. If you already have each of these albums there's no point buying this, even with the bonus tracks, however, if you don't it is must have for any Mayer fan.

When I saw this album on amazon - which is actually 3 albums for the price of one - it didn't take me long to click the purchase button and wait by the mailbox for my order to arrive. It's a great album (well, three albums) by a great artist. John Mayer is a musical genius. His vocals, guitar play and lyrics all live up to your expectations and are equally as incredible.Update: For those of you wondering: This is indeed 3 albums in 3 separate cases.(They're held together by another cardboard case)

This "box set" of 5 albums was an excellent price and gave a good insight into his music. At first it was not what I thought it might be as I had only heard him play live on an Eric Clapton DVD where he was much more " rockier". The albums in this book are all brilliant and I will certainly be looking for more.The delivery from Amazon was amazing, it arrived within days of me ordering it.

Great intro to the music of John Mayer.Played in my car for the last three weeks.
