Perfect, I have brought a lot of Haynes manuals ...
Perfect, I have brought a lot of Haynes manuals over the years, not just planes, but cars, boats, etc and also pleased with the product. Just such a shame Haynes never did one for the Honda CRX.

Another great workshop manual from Ian Black
Another great workshop manual from Ian Black, an aircrew member of the Royal Air Force who remembers the contribution the engineers make to the operation of a high tech jet.

Fotos a color siempre.

As much as I generally enjoy Haynes faux "workshop manuals," this one reminds me of how sloppy the series was starting to become in 2014. I don't mean to knock the author's skill as an aerial photographer, or his RAF service, in any way. Ian Black flew the F3 model during the first Gulf War, and his passion for the aircraft knows no bounds. His photographs of Tornados "in action" and undergoing maintenance are frequently superb, and provide plenty of detail for model builders. There's a good amount of technical detail on the aircraft's systems and RB199 engines, some interesting insights into flying, arming, and maintaining the aircraft, and useful overviews of the type's variants and combat record. As detailed and visually solid as this manual is, it starts to fall apart on closer inspection. Namely, the editing is terrible and renders the book unreadable in places. The text is loaded with typos (a plane flying "map of the earth," flaps attached to the "inner wing nibs," a gun aimed with a "pr4diction sight"), and sentences tend to be bizarrely structured, or end abruptly. The annotated views of the cockpit have call-outs in the wrong locations or missing completely, with the HUD actually labeled as "????????" on page 86! Parts of the text read like an RAF recruiting pamphlet; every aspect of the aircraft is "viceless," "a dream," "virtually flawless," and so on. Descriptions of individual weapons and electronic systems are sketchy at best, something which tends to plague Haynes' other books on modern combat aircraft. Is this book worth buying? If you're a Tornado fan, or want to super-detail your model kit, I'd say yes. Despite my criticisms, there's still quite a bit of excellent material here. With a little polishing, it could have easily been a four-star title.
