There is no added fragrance. The cream itself has a mild, not unpleasant smell to it. Kind of smells clean.

What are the ingredients? Why are they not stated /hidden?

Artemisia Extract, Kochia scoparia, Dictamni Cortex, Phillodendron, Equally extracted herbal extracts.

How is this cream vs. Benadryl extra strength cream ?

I used this medication for shingles. My personal opinion is Benadryl does not have the same ingredients that would dry up the blisters that come from shingles. When my blisters started to rise, I immediately started this cream and I did not get any blisters. I think Benadryl is more for itch discomfort, and not so much as preventing the progression of the sores that come up from shingles

does this contain steroids?

No steroids. Just a natural extract called Artemisia. It's the only ingredient listed. Works really well for shingles.
