Five amazing stars...my new Meghan Quinn favourite!
This book is EVERYTHING. I loved every single second and that is not an exaggeration. It’s adorably sweet, hilariously funny, achingly romantic, and it squeezed and tugged at my heart strings in that pleasurable, painful way I adore. I loved Breaker and Lia so much and loved the way the Meghan Quinn showcased a beautiful love and friendship with her quintessential magical touch. I laughed, I weeped like a baby and could not stop rooting for this fantastic couple. With her signature wit, irresistible banter and two characters you just can’t help but love, Meghan Quinn has once again delighted me with a story that’s wonderfully quirky and charming.Lia and Breaker meet in college at a top secret Scrabble society and instantly became best friends. Cue ten years later, where they live next door to each other and Lia is newly engaged. Breaker agrees to be her man in waiting, and in the midst of all the wedding madness, he realises he is completely and utterly in love with his best friend. The minute I started this story when they met in college, and Lia ridicules Breaker’s ‘pervert moustache’, I was hooked. And then when I really met Lia, I fell in love with her and her sass and humour. And Breaker?! Lord!! He is my new favourite Meghan Quinn hero as he was just brilliant. I had this fondness for him for most of the book that just exploded into this teary adoration by the very end. THAT moment and scene where he realises he is in love with Lia just touched my heart. And now? I'm just completely crazy about both of them. It was so brilliantly written that my heart was on overdrive the whole way through. Breaker and Lia hit all of my sweet spots, dead on. It's sweet and sexy. I laughed out loud (a lot). My heart clenched and ached while these two took their sweet time finding their way to each other.Gah! The wit, banter and swoons in this story were glorious. Breaker and Lia were both such endearing and fantastic characters and I loved their connection and chemistry. I adored them, and I can’t say enough good things about how their relationship evolved. The romance was perfection. It’s an effortless, slow-burning friends to lovers story with the most easy to love hero and heroine. Fun, lighthearted, sexy, and completely entertaining…Meghan Quinn took it to the NEXT LEVEL with this unforgettable romance!

So good, but…
Meghan Quinn is a go to fav author. This book was well on its way to a 5 star book but what stopped it for me was the near end & ending. I did not feel Lia ever really had a significant “ah-ha” moment. When she does make her declaration, as well as acknowledge her slowness to recognize it all, it’s not only weak, but too closely tied to her ex. Breaker certainly has a major ah-ha & wow! what an awesome boyfriend he becomes - although, he was already an amazing bff. By the end, I just didn’t feel Lia was as crazy about Breaker as he was her. Certainly she wanted to be with him and was in-love, but there wasn’t the same intensity as his affection & commitment, nor did she seem to really be able to recognize what they truly had. She had way more regard for her ex, even in the end, than he deserved and her commitment to such an unhealthy relationship was confusing & frustrating.Spoiler detail: I’ll try to be vague but still get across the point because this was the real stumper for me. Nearing the end, Lia has a conversation with her ex and he indicates, with ifs and buts, they might have been able to make it. She agrees! That one line really bothered me. At that point, I no longer liked Lia and she just never really redeemed herself from there. I felt bad for Breaker. Also, she never seemed to realize what being married to another man would mean to her relationship with Breaker. I guess by the end, I just felt she was a clueless, emotionally naive, somewhat selfish person. The convo with the ex could have, should have been her Ah-ha moment. If she really got that Breaker has always been her one, she would have realized no, she & her ex would not have made it. This is a small part of the story, but it obviously bothered me.I get how some readers think the burn is too slow & that it would have been nice to see more of them together romantically. I think maybe part of why that feeling is there is because again, we just don’t get enough of Lia’s realization that they are more than friends. But, their dynamic is well developed & the reader can certainly see these two for who/what they really are. It’s an interesting arc and fun to be on the outside looking in.The ex is pathetic and his mother is horrid. I was thrilled when Lia finally stood up to them. Their characters are an interesting part of the story.I do love Breaker & Lia’s relationship. They are awesome together and are so meant for one another. And, whew! Breaker is a top book bf. When they get together, it is hot, steamy & super sexy. While it is a slow burn, it is also an enjoyable one to read as it’s building. I was happy to get Breaker’s story and was so happy for his hea. The cameos from previous books are fun but are no problem if you haven’t read the previous stories. Another fun MQ book!

Ahhhhhh, why is it over!? I needed more of Breaker and Ophelia
At first I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to like this, because I usually read dark fantasy/paranormal and this was nowhere near that genre. I was out of my comfort zone in this. But, oh my God! I freaking loved. Breaker and Ophelia made me smile so much that my cheeks hurt by the end of it. This had one of my favorite tropes of all times - best friends to lovers and let me tell you it was so well written. The steamy scenes, their cute moments that comprises of doing simple little things for each other, the fact that they own apartments next to each other, the build up of sexual tension, their chemistry, the dirty talking....Oh my God, the dirty talking (one of the well written ones I have come across) ..... everything was off the charts, just perfect. I had such a great time with this book. At the end of the day, thats what matters. Also, I can't tell you how much I love the bonds between all the different characters, the brothers, their wives and the rest of friends. I hope to read more about them.
