Trend Pocket Hole Plug Cutter Drill Bit for Cutting 95mm Pocket Hole Plugs, PH/PC/95

I have a lot of Trend jigs, but Having tried this cutter and found out it only works in the drill press with no possibility of matching the grain with the pocket holes the plugs are meant to fill I put it aside for an alternative which has a guide bush to allow the plugs to be cut at the same angle as the pocket holes.It works, but could do better

Excellent tool as you would expect from Trend - does what it says on the tin. I'd really recommend using a drill press for this and ensure you clamp the wood down. The only slight issue is that when cutting deep plugs they can tend to get jammed up inside the tool, but they can be wiggled out quite easily. I've cut hundreds of plugs so far and the tool is still very sharp.

Dos the job but so dos 3/8 dowel

Should only be used in a good bench or pillar drill, and the wood needs to be held firmly at right angles to the cutter otherwise the cutter will judder a lot when it contacts the wood. I used one to cut some oak plugs, it did the job well although after cutting two or three plugs it got hot enough to scorch the wood, even after changing rpm and feed rates and regularly lifting the cutter. On a couple of occasions it jammed (although my bench drill's not one of the best...). The instructions recommend using a PTFE dry lubricant.

Great product does exactly what I hoped for just wish the vice could cater for larger wood
