Hardware is fine. Software and Management setup was a nightmare.
Whiles this product is overkill for my needs, I purchased it to evaluate for use by one of my clients. As a switch it worked great out of the box. No problems at all, but to use the "management" feature was a complete bear. I never did get the ProSafe software to work on my Windows 10 computer. Even after downloading a new version from the Netgear website, reading the manuals, and emailing tech support. I gave up on it after hours of effort.I was able to get the web browser interface to work, after a lot of effort and posting on the Netgear forum. My conclusion, is the "Quick start" guide is misleading at best. (Do NOT connect the unit to your network until AFTER you have configured a static ip address. Instead, only connect the computer, configured as per the manual instructions which you will use to configure the unit. Use the default IP and password to connect, then assign a static IP address and you should be up and running. I had lot's of headaches when it defaulted to DHCP, which the Quickstart guide did not even mention. (Figured it out after downloading the manual from the website.)I also found the Netgear website non-intuitive, and seemed to be one of those "we are going to try to keep you from contacting us until you've tried everything twice" types. After I no longer needed it, I finally found out how to initiate a chat session. Clicking on "Contact us" opened up "Have you read these FAQ's" page, Went in circles for a while. I finally was able to send an email, but I got a faster response to the message I posted on the forum.

A gigabit 16 Port switch
This a great 1 Gb 16 Port switch and it can be managed through it is interface. Although it is not needed it can be a help. It has lights on each port to show the speed of the connection. The switch has a network address that can be set by your DHCP server or you can set a permanent one. So far it works well and the warranty is great Limited lifetime.

AMAZING DIFFERENCES
I was in need of a few extra ports at home and ... Well, Netgear beats other vendors hands down. All the features added improved my NAS and network connectivity easily by 60% from a 8 year old Netgear switch. This switch adds many more features that allow Broadcast protect, 802.1, bonding NIC's on devices to get complete performance.I tried originally feeding a 36gb BluRay file off the NAS prior and it never worked. I bonded, add the features included and suddenly, the file plays no different than an AVI, MKV, Ripped DVD or other file types.Excellent performance increase!

Great managed hub at a great price
Works as advertised and it is very simple to set up. For a managed hub it's low cost attracted me. It does not have a ton of setup features but it did work well from the first day it was installed. Now after using it for several months I can say I have not had a single network issue. I was having to turn off my d-link and reset it weekly. I would but it again. After the initial setup I have yet to go back and adjust anything with it. I am using all 16 ports for computers and devices around my home. I have 2 dsl lines that I am tethering together for increased bandwidth and it had not had any issue with this setup.

Great at first, but immediately started ignoring all traffic after 12 hours.
Update: replacement has been working solid for a while now. Giving back 4 stars :)Original: It was an amazing 12 hours or so. QoS working perfectly with my VOIP boxes and playing online without lag spikes due to a full household streaming media. And then Christmas morning, no connectivity. DHCP requests were being dropped (dedicated DHCP server) and rebooting the switch did not work. Going back to my old dumb netgear switch brought back network connectivity without QoS. Disappointing, but netgear has been good to me in the past (my 16 port gig switch still works and it's almost 10 years old), so I've ordered a replacement and will give it another shot. Very disappointing regardless that this passed QA.

OK, but not an unalloyed delight
This product seems to work as advertised pretty well right out of the box. However, I have bumped into one problem, which I thought worth documenting here. Perhaps it'll save someone some grief.I'm a developer and have a lot of machines in my home network. When I installed this in my network and put all of my machines behind it I suddenly found that one particular form of connectivity stopped working. I started to get Error 10471 out of the PayPal Express Checkout service. As far as I can tell, there's something about the way that this device handles HTTPS connections that causes PayPal to think that it's getting invalid parameters. I got around this problem by dual-porting the relevant machines and circumventing this switch when talking to the outside world. This wasn't a problem for me because I primarily needed a gigabit switch to manage communications within my subnet, rather than talking to the outside world.Of course, you may not care about the PayPal Express Checkout API service, but it's not hard to imagine that this same behaviour that causes PayPal to object might also cause other network services to object.

Great device for the money
I purchased this device to replace an aging non-managed switch that appeared to be an issue on my home network. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. It's a great little device. It has a decent interface and has been super reliable so far (after a few months of use). I also like that I can create VLANs without having to moving wires around for all my "projects". It's a great price point for the functionality. The switch has also removed load from my router (which I was using for some switch ports). The router now runs a 24/7 VPN client for one of my sebnets: The router is more reliable, too, now! I highly recommend this product for the geek in your life (or yourself if that is you). Happy geeking.

When people buy NEW, they expect NEW
I'm a bit dissappointed by this purchase. The product i've bought was NEW, not used. It is clearly a 2nd hand or an opened-box. How i've discovered it? I bought 2 of thems.- The shrinkwrap arround 1 of the box was not there at all- The wall fixture were absent in this box- The power adapter was clearly tied by itself (not like those "dirt bag attachs" like we are used to have). That's my main concern... how long the power adapter will survive. The cable at the output of the adapter was curved like hell... i hope it didn't got damaged)- The instructions to access the WebUI are clear, and the switch was definitely not responding to 192.168.0.239 like it should do! I've scanned the whole 192.168.0.x and nothing was showing up beside my own laptop. I had to reset the switch, then i've been able to access the WebUI.I'm definitely dissappointed. I was expecting that it would never happen from an order from AMAZON (not a 3rd party seller).Yet the switches are working, and i've been able to set up my LAG (lan aggregate). I'll test each port on both of them... i kinda feel that i've lost my trust on this one!

No Power over Ethernet
This is supposed to do power over Ethernet but it failed to serve this purpose. Luckily my Ring doorbell came with a PoE device Nd I was able to use it like that. There is a severe lack of consumer support for this product. I chased my tail in circles for 3 days trying to find out how to get the PoE to work and it just doesn't work. If I had known it wasn't going to work, I definitely would not have bought it.

Great switch with excellent features
This switch is really good, the web interface is easy to use and the features work great. The included support is stellar and paying for addition premium support is very reasonable. Not had one issue with it. Great product!

Worth the money
Great switch. VAN, LAG, QoS. Ignore other reviews stating no Web interface.Use desktop utility to give static address, then use Web browser.Own a Netgear GS166 for 5 yrs. Netgear makes rock solid switches.

Do your research first.
This product was listed as having 4 POE ports. (the reason why I picked it) Unfortunately this was incorrect. Other than that the item was as described.
