Great piece of kit.
This simple device has increased my studio workflow no end. It's so quick to stow your guitar safely so you can crack on with creating the recording you are committed to. It's also great at protecting the guitar from my curious dogs. Will try it out in a pup "session" soon. Well worth the money.

Good idea slightly let down by execution.
The product is sturdy and well made and it attaches easily and securely to a table.I have a couple of criticisms of it, howeverOne is that is the part that comes in to contact with the guitar neck isn’t really padded like in a typical guitar stand, and so I worry that it could scratch a neck. I’m fine using it with a matt natural poly finished neck but I wouldn’t want to use it, for example with a gloss black nitro finished neck.Secondly the little prongs that stick out to keep the neck in the holder can make it a little tough to get the guitar in and out. I can’t really think of any better way of doing this, however. Also, the product appears to be able to be rotated 90 degrees to allow vertical mounting. The issue with that is it rotates too freely and several times when I’ve gone to place the guitar into it it’s rotated. This could be dangerous if you aren’t expecting it and you could potentially damage the guitar.Despite these criticisms I still think it’s a good product. I wouldn’t want to use this type of guitar stand with an expensive nitro finished guitar anyway, as it would be easy to knock it. I’m using it for a cheaper guitar and it’s quite alright.

Does exactly what you want.
Plastic but robust, vice jaws to screw it to any edge, rubberised arms to hold the neck in place. Does exactly what I bought it for. Reasonably elegant looking considering it’s a functional object. The quality you would expect from d’Addario / Planet Waves at this price point.

Comparison of Planet Waves Guitar Rest and Pub Prop (also to be found on Amazon)
I've had a Pub Prop for some time, and, although it does the job of using a table as a guitar rest, I started looking at what others were using. I finally bought a Planet Waves Guitar Rest and have discovered that it does the job equally well, with a massive improvement in simplicity. The Planet Waves Guitar rest could not be more simple - you lay it on the edge of a table and prop your guitar on it. That's it. The Pub Prop, however, has a screw threaded clamp to connect it to the table. That is fiddly to use and is particularly difficult on certain types of table that have edgings sticking downwards. The Pub Prop has a little bar that can clip across the neck of the guitar for extra security. I stopped using that as the guitar was equally stable without it. I suppose it might be marginally helpful if someone bumped into the guitar or if there was an earthquake, but I've never wished that I'd spent the extra time securing and un-securing that clip. The fact that the Planet Waves Guitar Rest is not fixed to the table means that it can be easily moved along a bit to make a but more room for for someone else. Between songs in a folk club, it feels like a major work of dismantling and reassembly to move a Pub Prop.Having used both in action, now, I would recommend the Planet Waves Guitar Rest every time.

Surprisingly steady
Didn’t have high expectations but this wee holder actual stays pretty firmly in place, it has a wee bit of weight to it and the rubber compound has a high amount friction.Fits easily into any slim gap or pocket in your gear bags.

Does exactly what it should
It's a little expensive for what it is, but it really does work.Much more convienent than a stand, but also much less risky than just propping your guitar up against a desk/table etc. Also folds flat(ish) when not in use so you don't catch it on your trousers walking past! :D

works most of the time
I like to take my guitar to the pub – which isn’t always a guitar-friendly environment – and join in with ad hoc music sessions. I felt I need a stand for the guitar so that I can go to the bar without worrying that someone will bang into the table and knock the guitar over. This is very easy to use – you just put it on the table top and rest the guitar against it. There’s a bit of a knack to getting it in a position that is secure and won’t slip – basically it is a high friction product and the weight of the guitar presses it down onto the table top so that it won’t slip.I find it works on most square or rectangular tables without any problem at all. If the table is round it requires more careful positioning, and if the edge is also bevelled then it may not be possible to trust it completely. It’s simple to use, lightweight and small – just slips into the guitar case, and it works for me most of the time. I wouldn’t trust it 100%, but it’s better than not having a rest at all. At the price, I am pretty pleased with it.
