The best kitchen scale ever!
I’ve used two different scales over the past four years — they were cheap, but not accurate, and always needed those little round batteries that cost too much and run out fast. I finally got tired of that and decided I needed a well-made, accurate scale that would last. After some research, I went for this one — and I’m so glad I did! First, it looks great — sleek, modern, and stylish in the kitchen. The build quality feels solid: not heavy, but definitely not flimsy. The display and functions are excellent, with an easy switch between micrograms and grams. It’s incredibly accurate, which is perfect for making bread. It’s also easy to store — slim, compact, and fits nicely in a drawer or on the worktop. Honestly, I can’t find a single downside. This scale is a superstar! The price truly reflects its quality — I just wish I’d found it sooner.

My go to kitchen scales
These scales are great. They are amazing value and I have found them to be extremely reliable. Having the ability to weigh to 0.1g is it removes the need for a second set of high accuracy scales for pretty much any home uses. The scale is simple to use and compact. I’ve had one for several years and it has held up very well being easy to clean and everything still works perfectly. I think this scale is great for anybody who may need the added precision of measuring to the nearest 0.1g for things like coffee or precise baking but also fantastic as an all round scale.

Works great. No issues.
I have been using an old Avery set of balance scales that my wife's grandmother used to use. I used to mostly use them for weighing post and my local post office would comment on the accuracy of my weight measurements with them as so often people with digital scales could be wrong. This is borne out in other scales reviews. I have for several months now been doing a lot of bread baking and wanted a replacement set of scales. I took ages reading reviews and did not want to spend a lot but I hate stuff with short life that ends up in landfill. Even if recycled there is still environmental cost not to mention the hassle of sourcing a replacement. I've also made the mistake of buying stuff not good enough that you get frustrated as your work suffers. One thing that frustrates me is the poor (or lack of) quality control these days such that otherwise good products can still have poor or failing examples. These scales are absolutely great. They can be simply calibrated for the part of the world you are in for accuracy although they were on the right adjustment for where I am. It's been one of those cases where I have been asking why didn't I take the plunge before as it makes life so much quicker and easier. I don't use all the liquid measure functions but the scales do seem accurate compared to the Avery balance although I don't have weights at 0.1g accuracy that the Tanita does. I still use the old scales for weights that might be above 3Kg though. With regards to value for money which reviews suggest is the biggest downside of these scales; it is more than many scales to buy but I would expect it to be reliable and last a long time. I often compare the cost with the expected lifetime and often cheap things work out more expensive on this cost per period of time basis. I would say it represents good value because of the quality and expected life given that Tanita are also a professional & medical scales company. They have invested heavily over decades in relation to health and well-being and have an 80 year history with many world firsts.

Precision and quality
Excellent scale. Not just in the kitchen but for weighing letters and small parcels. Honestly its hard to find anything to dislike. The 'micro' mode (up to 300g) gives 0.1g precision. And tested with calibrated weights its accurate too. I use for teas and spices as well as food colours and flavours. Knowing the weight of a product makes recipies quicker and with less washing up. No ingredients stuck on your spoons either. I don't hesitate to recommend. There is a cheaper version available without the stainless steel plate however I think this is very important so this is the model to get.

Well designed
A good set of scales. Well designed and robust! I did a bit of research before buying because I wanted a set of scales that could weigh very accurately, had a sensible range and which wouldn't break the bank. In the end, I went for these on a whim, despite the lack of reviews. I have not been disappointed! They also have the handy feature of being able to measure milk or water by weight so would be ideal for using with a bread machine or for baking. Before you throw the manual away, make sure the scales are set with the correct calibration for your latitude. I live in Scotland, and upon arrival, mine were set up for use in England. This could cause the measurements to be slightly inaccurate as the earth's gravity varies depending on what part of the world you are in.

Accurate and easy to use.
I have owned several cheap (£10-15 range) digital kitchen scales which, while usable, have all suffered from a lack of sensitivity (failure to register weights below ~5g, then jumping in apparently random increments as ingredients are added) , poor reproducibility, dubious accuracy, unstable display and a ridiculously short time before auto shutdown. These scales have none of those problems. I have compared with calibrated jeweler's scales accurate to +/- 0.005g in the range 0-200g and these scales check out exactly (to their resolution, 0.1g in micro mode) over that range. Certified calibration weights of 100 and 200 grams register 100.0 and 200.0 grams respectively and 300.0 grams together wherever the weights are placed on the platform. I don't have heavier calibration weights so can't assess how good they are beyond 300g, but these results are encouraging. The scales have no tendency to 'jump' by more than one unit of their resolution when weight is added in small increments. Response time when a weight is added is in the region 500-800ms as far as I can judge, and the reading is then stable and reproducible. The auto shutdown time of 10 minutes is a real boon - as others have noted it is very frustrating to come back to scales after hunting down an ingredient to find that they have switched themselves off. I doubt that this will be a problem for battery life - the device is powered by 2xAA alkaline batteries which, apart from being cheaper and more readily available than the CR2032 coin cells used in many cheap scales, have a greater capacity - around 5Wh compared with ~0.75 Wh for a single CR2032. I'm really happy with this purchase at the moment and would recommend these scales, especially to those who need to make reasonably accurate measurements of teaspoon sized quantities as well as bulkier ingredients.

Fantastic scales
A very good quality scale. I use it in candle making so I need the weight to be exact. I’ve had it for a few years now and it still works great.

Accurate but frustrating
These scales are accurate, and it's very convenient that it both uses AA batteries and doesn't auto-shut off in the middle of weighing. I have found, however, that although the buttons always make a sound they don't always register first time and have to be pressed again. The displayed weight goes up in steps rather than immediately displaying the total weight, which means I sometimes have to pause and wait for them to catch up. Finally, the tare function doesn't always return the scales to 0, instead showing a few grams, so that's something I have to watch out for. Overall a good buy but perhaps a little overpriced given the glitches.

100% recomendable.

Uses real batteries, lasts a long time.
I've had my fill of cheap kitchen scales that use button cell batteries that last 5 minutes. This scale uses real batteries (AA I think, I can't remember it's been so long) and is very accurate. It even has a more accurate mode that can be toggled if needed. Absolutely recommend.
