MWRF Source™ ESD Mat Kit with Wrist Strap and Grounding Cord (0.07 inches) (18" x 30", Gray)

This is a pretty nice, standard rubber ESD mat, with a corner snap for the grounding line-to-mat attachment. The mat feels good, and high quality. However, the mat I received was a slightly different (longer) size than I was expecting. I ordered the 18” x 30” mat, but the mat I received was actually 17.5” x 48”, a whole foot longer. Since this is larger than the space I was intending to put it, I may need to cut it down a bit, but haven’t done so yet. I also measured the thickness to be about 1.5 mm, which is just a bit thinner than the 0.07” advertised. To me, the slight differences in measurement are not a big deal, so I’m not subtracting a star, but it was interesting to unexpectedly get an entire extra foot of length (I can always cut the mat down if needed – if it was too small, that would have been a problem). It comes tightly rolled up, but easily unrolls and doesn’t curl back up on the edges. This was really nice!My multimeter can’t measure above 10e8 ohms, so I couldn’t verify the surface resistivity. However, the parameters I could measure were spot-on perfect for a typical ESD mat. The wrist strap-to-ground resistance was right at about 1M ohm, and the conductive underside of the mat was about 22.4M ohm. These are ideal parameters for an ESD mat. Since the electrical parameters are perfect for what I can measure, I’ll take their word for it about the surface conductivity.The only thing I don’t love is the grounding ring. This comes with an eyelet style ground attachment that is intended to screw onto the grounding screw on the electrical socket. I think these are a pain (because you need to use your screwdriver), and I greatly prefer the banana plug style grounding attachment (because it’s easy). It would have been nice if they’d included both styles and you could pick, but no. Also, the grounding eyelet ring is too small to fit over the ground prong on a 3 prong plug, so you can’t ground the lazy way by looping the ring over the ground prong (which is really not the right/safe way to do it anyway). The eyelet attachment also prevents the grounding line from being accidentally yanked out of the receptacle, so in the end it’s the safest way. I can’t ever fault anyone for taking the safest route.Final Rating: 5 stars. A great ESD mat that meets all quality expectations.

This is exactly what I've been needing for my recent electronics work at home. I had one before this but it was not very well made and wore down fast over time. This one feels durable enough to last a long time with various electronic components poking at it. After a quick check this seems to be wired up properly as would be needed for proper grounding. The ground connection is the ring type that needs to be screwed in, which is great since it is nice and securely connected. Although, a banana plug style being included would have been a nice addition for the sake of convenience. Overall though this has been a nice grab and has been getting the job done well.

Man did I ever need a new one of these. My old one has been used and abused over the last few years that it had cuts in it from razer blades for various projects. So I picked this one up to replace it. Seems to have the same quality and thickness as my old one, and to my surprise, my old wrist strap setup also works on it. I'd for sure recommend this if you are like me and work with a lot of electronics

Nice sized static mat for on the workbench. Comes with the wrist strap and grounding cord. Really needed in the dry winter weather.

In my extensive experience, anti-static mats are either excellent or totally useless. There appears to be little middle ground. This one is excellent. Does a great job of grounding anything resting on it, and the clip to the wrist strap also does all that it should.

Much better then what I had before. Not the cheapest option but it is large and very good quality
