Japanese Soroban Wooden Abacus

It is VERY BADLY made! It is wonky, meaning that the right side is larger than the left side, hence the dimensions are wrong. The clearing mechanism was loose and didnt clear the Abacus properly. The wood is not painted well at all . Some of the beads had glue on them and they were even glued TO EACH OTHER!! :o The wood was split at some places where it was clearly drilled or pushed through. Lastly the beads dont move up and down easily at all as the little sticks they were on had partially had some glue on. The whole thing looked like it has been used before after it has been mass made in some massive factory in China where they used poor underpaid workers... Sad DO NOT GET THIS.

This is not the best abacus that anyone should buy for the price. I am not happy with the product. The beads don't move smooth and are not placed proportionally.

It's a bit rubbish - It has a cheap, tacky, poorly constructed feel. Just buy a calculator

Sympa, mais le vernis sent très fort. Il fait plus cheap que sur les photos, les finitions ne son pas très soignées c'est un peu dommage... Mais cela suffit amplement pour la fonction qu'on veut en faire.

This is a very nice product which appears to be made only from natural materials such as wood and metal. It lies on its side and has thick rubber feet to keep it from sliding across surfaces, and a metal "reset" button connected to an inner mechanism which pushes all the sliders back to their original positions.I've studied a few videos on how to use a soroban and it's really fun and stimulates the mind. I am 100% adamant now that this device should be used routinely in math classrooms across America -- THIS is why the Asians are better at math than we are.Finally, another piece of info: Each mini-column in an abacus is a power of ten, starting with ten to the zeroth power, which means multiples of one. And so, since this abacus has 13 columns, that means the leftmost column of sliders is worth 10*12, or 10 with 12 zeroes behind it, for 1,000,000,000,000, which is one trillion. So its maximum value is 9,999,999,999. The standard professional soroban has 23 rows, but almost ten trillion should be enough for you to train on and have fun with.

Love it, the wooden finish gives it a nice retro look, You can even set it on your desk.Like the color beads It makes it easier to count.

so much better than a calculator and helps me with every day mathi have found a website that makes math problems to practice your abacus math. and i'm already beginning to do it all in my head.this is worth the money and more.frame is all wood. the button to clear the board is on a good strong spring.the beads are on heavily painted wood and placed on wooden dowels secured within the frame. three rubber feet on the back to prevent it from sliding about as you do your calculations.this is perfect for all ages and recommend it for such.anyone learning common core math this is a must as common core math is legitimately supposed to be abacus math but taught without an abacus. (at least it makes better sense with a soroban in front of you)it's a must for any one who's as bad at math as i am.
