This book solved a problem that I had with a painting providing instant value for me. The author understands how to write about art. His descriptions are clear and tangible. The examples clearly support the statements. This isn't woo-woo nonsense, but real advice that applies to all styles and genres of drawing or painting. Absolutely worth the purchase and time to read.

Excellent book to guide you in developing you skill in mastering composition. Full of tips and information to help you understand the picture plane, value masses, different compositions and a lot more. The best friend to have on your art journey. Thank you Ian!!

Excellent book for painters but also for photographers. As a photographer I found the lessons very helpful in improving my perspective and way of looking at the world.

Book is in excellent condition. I think the book was sent from the United States and the delivery only took a few days. I experienced worse with overseas deliveries, so well done Amazon. Can’t comment on the content. Haven’t read it yet.

Good insight into understanding composition better
