Excellent Product
I had purchased a Litter Robot 4 that gave me constant problems from the very first week. After several frustrating rounds of troubleshooting and customer service chats, I sent the thing back and purchased this Petkit litterpan instead. It has worked perfectly and I am thrilled with this purchase. The litter waste capacity is very good and the bags are reasonably priced considering how many you get and the large capacity they hold. There are probably other bag options that might work, but I am happy with the Petkit ones. They are sized to fit and have a drawstring closure. The noise level is also very subtle and does not disturb me at all. I did not buy the extra scent spray attachment, but do use the N50 cubes in the waste compartment. There has been no problem at all with odors. I do use Slide litter which has good odor control by itself and works very well for keeping the inside of the device clean. In contrast, Litter Robot looked dirty all the time with debris spots left on the inside surface liner. The shape of the rotating drum is also better in that it is a cylinder and the cat litter is a fairly large rectangular bed in the bottom. Litter Robot was shaped like a ball so the litter bed was a smaller circular shape that was easier to "miss", hence the extra debris spots. I was not at all thrilled with the set up process that required me to get my smart phone and scan multiple QR codes in order to get access to online instructions. I hate QR codes! Is it really asking too much to at least provide a printed Quick Start Guide in the box? Ugh! But at least the codes worked and I was able to set it up with only minimal swearing. I'm also not loving the app in general It feels more oriented toward selling me additional products than giving me any useful information in an easy to find format. It needs to be much more intuitive and oriented toward information about the product I already bought and my cats usage of it. Litter Robot was much better in that regard. But the bottom line is that the litterpan itself functions perfectly and does exactly what I bought it to do. So it still rates 5 stars and a wild happy dance from me!

So far so good, difficult to setup
I have now had this for a few months but so far I havenโt experienced any leaking or other issues. I will create incremental updates (see bottom) to let you know how itโs going. I spent MONTHS researching and deciding on which robot litter box to buy. Itโs a very large amount of money to spend for it to stop working either within a month or even within a year. My gripe with this device is that there were so few truly honest reviews from people who talked about the price because it seemed like the vast number of reviews and videos on the internet were of people who received it for free. When you get it for free, you just canโt really give an honest review because you werenโt the one to shell out so very much of your hard-earned money. There were only 2 reviews on the internet that I felt gave a fair and honest take and even those 2 were sent the item for free (though still honest because they paid out of pocket for other similar boxes so they knew the value of the cost and talked about it). I bought this box because of the shape (wide rather than tall), size inside (quite large), the location of the bin (on the side rather than bottom), height and size of entry (much lower & larger than others), and the rotation of the device (spin upwards rather and to the side). All of these made it closest to the current box my cats use so I felt they would adjust better since I was trying to minimize my need to contact customer support or return the item. I also bought the version of the kit with the bin deodorizer rather than the spray because of the price and the fact that I didnโt need the other things. The kits vary greatly, especially in price, so check out the versions carefullyโthere are versions that come with litter only, spray only, a bin deodorizer only, just trash bags, etc. My version only came with trash bags and the bin deodorizer. It didnโt come with the spray (I didnโt like the idea of this wasting space inside or spraying on my cats) or a mat (I already have one anyway). Incidentally, grocery bags work fine in the bin so you donโt need the bags. My version, โthe new version,โ came with the litter dump cover and the new fabric liner with the small lips to prevent leaking (an additional design implementation due to complaints of leaking and of scratching through the rubber). I donโt like the fabric because Iโm not sure it will last as long as rubber would and I keep my cats nails shorter anyway but thereโs no option to buy the rubber liner. 1. SetupโIโm technologically capable and I found this device to be quite difficult to setup. There are ZERO written instructions, you have to watch a video that also isnโt very descriptive, pause and stop frequently to be accurate, and most importantly, you need the app for proper set up. I foolishly thought I could set it up manually with the buttons and install the app later. Even still, none of these various methods tell you whether you should add the litter in first before powering on or how to zero the scale. Even setting up through the app was strangely difficult, the prompts are not native or intuitive, itโs very easy to click the wrong thing and then difficult to figure out how to go back to start over. This is probably due to translations not being quite accurate. I was able to figure it out but I believe it was far more difficult than it should be and might be much more difficult for others than it was for me. My suggestion is to go slowly at each prompt and think a little about what itโs trying to ask. I canโt really explain it any better than that. 2. LeakingโSo far, I have not had any leaking issues and I have read that this might be a more frequent issue for those with male cats who have a different urinating stance-I only have female cats. To combat this, at the initial setup, I placed a wee-wee-pad at the bottom, making sure to fold it so it did not cover the rotation wheels. Sticking out a little in the front and back does not seem to affect the rotation. I wonder if leaking becomes an issue the longer you use the device because of the fabric (as opposed to rubber) liner which degrades over time. Iโll update later if this is something I discover. I also wonder if it occurs if you donโt add enough or frequently replenish the litter to absorb the urine. I fill to max level and add once a week. We shall see how this works. 3. DimensionsโThe measurements are NOT accurate. It is at least an inch larger on each side, maybe more, and definitely more if you factor in the actual clearance it needs to work (not blocking your ability to pull out the bin, the rotation, and even the infrared sensor). If anything is too close (even if not touching), it will not work. I live in a small apartment and have limited space so I had to rework the space quite a bit, removing molding, shelves, etc. 4. FunctionalityโIn the past few days, I have found this device to be extremely quiet and aside from the setup, very easy to use. My cats took to it fairly quickly (I used their old litter from the prior box to help with this) although they are still very curious when it rotates. Itโs not great at properly measuring your cats weight and has never shown it to be the same weight twice. It often just shows up as โunknown catโ and I have to guess based on the approximate weight of my cats, unless I know based on having observed the cat myself. Recapโbe careful of the reviews and look critically when buying; be aware of the large size; be aware of complaints of leaking and how you will deal with this; and finally, factor in the strong possibility that you will not get much customer service. Overall, I am quite happy with it so far and believe it to be worth the money if it keeps working as well as it has so far. EDIT 1 MONTHโI have noticed that my cats kick out SO much more litter than they ever did before. I believe this is bc the PETKIT box has a grate at the back that cuts into the space so cats have to shift the opposite way, much closer to the entrance, thereby kicking out litter. This is worsened by the fact that the entrance is low and large. Itโs not a dealbreaker but something to be aware. Itโs a lot of litter. Everywhere. EDIT 3 MONTHSโStill no leaking but I have also noticed that my box is significantly scratched up on the top of the drum in a straight line from where the wheels touch the top as it rotates. I believe small bits of litter dust are getting on the wheels and then scraping the drum. Also not a dealbreaker but something to be aware of if you are concerned of aesthetics. If so, you may want to consistently clean beneath the drum and/or wipe the wheels. EDIT 6 MONTHSโStill great but Iโve learned more tips. The effectiveness of the cleaning has a lot to do with the kind of litter you use and how you set it up to clean. The better the litter is at clumping, the more effective the box will be. If you donโt let the litter sit long enough to clump properly, the box will only smear the waste or crumble the clumps. I use Worldโs Best litter and set it to clean 2x a day at specific times (once in the morning and once in the evening) when I know my cats are usually sleeping and not as active. I have also discovered that it is terrible at properly gauging cat weight when it gets lower on litter so you really have to properly replenish the litter. Once I do that, it gets a little better. HOWEVER, they donโt specifically mention this but you MUST set the device to maintenance mode before adding litter. If you try to add it directly, it will mess up the calibrations.

Short Term Success; Long Term Headache
I have a 2 cat home. When I first set this up, it was perfect. It was quiet and took my mind away from the constant need to clean. I enjoyed only having to change the bag 2-3 times a week rather than daily scoops. It also eliminates the smells because it cleans so quickly. A month later is when the problems started. I noticed a pee scent started to develop. I decided to do a deep clean. Upon taking the product apart, per the cleaning instructions, I noticed a pool of pee under the cylinder. It seems like the material at the bottom allows for liquid to pass though for some reason. Then, it began getting jammed constantly. Almost everyday the waste would somehow drop on top of the door that opens internally, causing a jam and requiring me to take it apart and manually clean the machine out. Unfortunately, if I donโt notice this right away, waste will linger, causing the typical smell to travel thought the house. Being that the waste was still in the machine, my cats were discouraged from using it and started doing their business on the floor outside of the device. Iโve now reverted back to using open box manual cleaning solutions and this is just used as a supplemental litter box until I can find a more reliable and dependable automated solution.

Works as advertised. No leaking yet.
Should have bought one long ago. Got this when it was on sale for 400. Smell control is great. Taking out the bag is simple. Its very quiet when it cleans. Chose this over the litter-robot since that one is too tall for our desired location. One cat was too scared and never used it. The other cat used it immediately. Our unique situation with two cats requires 2 litterboxes, so this was still a win. If on carpet, it will not always recognize the cat used it, and so will not auto clean. We dont have a decent hard floor location, so I may build something with plywood. Waste bag lasts about 3 or 4 days only. I can only imagine the mess if you dont clean the bag regularly. Glad I bought, but at its regular price, and with no size constraints, the litter-robot would have been a better choice. 400 or less is a great value. Suggested improvements : Make it function better on carpet. Give an optional upgrade for a camera. Provide a simple "Clean Now" button on the front panel. Enable an alert for low litter level. Color options. Larger waste bin.

very quiet, works excellently
unlike reviews Iโve seen about both Litter Robots (but especially the 3), this machine is darn near silent. whisper quiet. the loudest part is the waste going down the chute. speaking of the chute, the sealed off waste bin keeps smells at bay. Iโve neglected to empty the waste bin for 2+ weeks for my single small cat, and still very little smell radiating out from it when not in use. That being said, itโs incredibly easy to take the waste out. the special made bags make it stupidly easy and quick. The scent bar does somewhat help, deciding whether or not Iโm going to order more after the original one dried up. Itโs a bit wasteful, needing a new one every month. Iโve used sustainably yours cat litter, which works well but tracks oh so much, like youโve got a little beach in your house, finding โsandโ all over. I switches to worlds best for a little less tracking. I have not yet used the larger grate to sift large low tracking pellets. altogether, the best money Iโve spent related to my cat care. I love it!!

I love this cat box and this is why
I bought the cat box in April 2023 and its now July 2023 I recommend this box. I love this box. I don't regret buying this box. *The only thing I would change is the size of the box. I would make it bigger so super chonkers can take a comfortable poo. I have 2 large male cats. I have this box and natures miracle xl box (DO NOT RECOMMEND) as a back up cat box. Pros -I can clean the box randomly while I'm at work through the app -It logs which cat, how long, and when they use the box (after a month of manually entering which cat is using the box, it now logs the correct cat but incorrect weight) -the crap bags are convenient (they now have off brand waste bags but I haven't tried those) -cat box is always clean when they go -lets you know when the waste bin is full -removing the waste container is easy! -you can buy replacement parts for it ( I haven't bought any but I have seen that they are available) -the settings in the app are great. You can have it double spin every time it cleans itself or just once -It has a reminder setting for refilling the litter Cons -My cats are large (10lbs and 15 lbs) but not xxl fat large. Super Chonkers will NOT fit in this box. -My cats cat can pee in this box but squatting for a poo looks like there is not enough space. (I have a back up box and they use both and don't favor one over the other) - be careful on which cat litter you use! You'll hate this box if you buy the wrong litter. Arm &Hammer double duty does NOT work well with this box. I'm still trying to find a good litter. Arm&hammer platinum slide is okay but I'm still looking. -I didn't get the spray airfreshner. The rubber square freshener doesn't last long with 2 cats -I had to watch and rewatch YouTube videos on how to remove litter and take apart to wash. -Deep cleaning it takes longer than a regular box -the app can be clunky but I'm getting used to it. It gets easier to use after a few months. -its kinda loud but that doesn't bother me. (You can adjust the settings so it won't go off at night)

Great idea, poor execution
The biggest issue with the machine is that it doesn't inform me when it runs out of litter - I've seen reports on reddit that it's based on number of cleanings rather than weight. That seems to be my experience as well, and it means you can't rely on this machine to notify you when it needs to be maintained. If you're like me and forget to check it for a few days, your poor cat may be using a box with no litter in it. Maybe I got a defective unit? I don't know. There is a door which closes over the waste area, which has on occasion failed to open before having waste dumped on top of it. It's downright disgusting when this happens and nearly impossible to get 100% clean without disassembling a significant portion of the machine. This has happened several times since purchasing it a few months ago. It seems to be worse the longer you set the cleaning delay, possibly due to large chunks taking too long to go through the funnel. The part of the chamber that the waste is supposed to catch on and funnel down into the waste bin is pretty small. This isn't much of an issue with the default cleaning delay of 2 minutes, but this short of a delay results in the walls being smeared with waste. If you turn this delay up to a time that prevents smearing, such as 10 or 15 minutes, the litter solidifies into large enough chunks that they often can't fit and are permanently trapped in the clean litter until you remove it by hand. In short, it works most of the time for self cleaning and will generally keep your space smelling less nasty than an open litter box, but it has some serious issues. The PetKit app is junk, but on the plus side, there is an unofficial Home Assistant integration - however it's cloud only and it seems that PetKit doesn't have a real API - you essentially have to make a separate PetKit user and share the devices, but it works. I paid around $350 for this and in hindsight, I wish I would have just bought a Litter Robot at twice the price. To me it would be worth saving a while longer to get a unit which works with less issues. With that said while I feel like I was lied to by PetKit about some of the capabilities of this unit, it's definitely better than not having an automatic litter box at all.

Perfect for smaller spaces
This litter robot stuck out to me because of the minimalistic design. I felt like all the other robots are too clunky. This one was compact enough to fit in my small space. Also, to my surprise when it arrived, it was really light and easy to maneuver and set up. Setup was fairly simple. Best to just watch the youtube instructions. Syncing it to the app and my wifi was really easy, only took a few minutes. The Petkit app itself has a lot of features. One of which is keeping track of your cats' bathroom usage. I have multiple cats, so it's able to keep track of each one by their weight. There's a lot of features on the app as well, and you can control all of the features from it. So far, everything has worked pretty smoothly from the app. On to the actual litter box usage. Pro tip: If you have skittish cats like mine, leave the box turned off for a week or so and just let them explore. Mine was afraid of it when I first set it up, so after leaving it out for a week, they are finally starting to use it. I would only set it to manually clean under my supervision. So far, I'm surprised the machine is super quiet. And it seems to clean the box well after each usage. I haven't noticed any leaks or malfunctions, and I also like that I can take the box apart to deep clean. I do wish the box allowed for more litter since my cats pee a lot. Lastly, check the dimensions of the box. I would say if you have cats larger than 10lbs, they might be too big for the box. One of my cats is about 10.5lbs but he is super long; while he does go in it, it just feels really cramped for him.

Stopped working
Only had for four months and it stopped working and will not turn back on. Contacted PETKIT customer support as thatโs what Amazon refers you to and they sent me back to deal with Amazon. Terrible customer service and complete waste of money. My device will not turn on whatsoever and is unusable.
