I read this book was listed as one of the 100 most influential nonfiction books of the 20th century. I see why, for he addressed the very touchy subject of religion in calm and insightful ways. I particularly agree that the outward forms of religious experience are widely varied, while the inner experiences are incredibly similar. I read up to page 25, then gave up trying to read the book because the font size was so small and cluttered it gave me a headache. As if the book subject matter wasn't difficult enough, the tiny print just made it impossible to continue. I missed the opportunity to return the book by 10 days.
