Bought as a gift for my grandson. He loves it.

Sturdy. Comes apart good and stays together when canting

Bought this as Christmas give for my grandson who is interested in fishing but not yet graduated to serious fisherman, so the goal was to give good all round performance at a modest price. We will try it out in the spring. And the jazzy colors seal the deal for now.

I'm new to fishing, having only done it a few times as a kid, so I'd consider myself a novice. From my perspective this is a great rod and reel. I like that the rod breaks down to save space and ease transport. The reel has a super smooth action that was very comfortable to use and worked flawlessly without any hint of a snag or tangle. Would recommend it to any beginner angler. More seasoned fishermen would probably be happy with it too but I don't know enough about fishing gear to know for sure.

Disappointed with reel capability to accept line evenly at setup. Spent hours attempting to diagnose the problem. Also, wasted a lot of line and $$Will try it out next week

First off, I want to let you know my perspective on this review. I'm not someone with thousands of dollars invested in fishing equipment and I don't know what separates the top of the line reels from the disposable ones.That being said, this feels like a decent rod and reel combo set. The reel has a switch on the front that allows forward and backwards action or a forward only action. The handle can be swapped for right or left handed users. The drag is easily adjusted. These are all pretty standard features and they work well. The bail trip seems a little stiff, but that is subjective.The rod is nice, too. It allows for a lot of bend and give. I do like how the end piece of the rod fits around the base piece (the base is male and the end is female). Other rods that I have seen and used have always been the other way. I don't know if that has any type of advantage or disadvantage to the strength of the rod or the sensitivity, but it feels like a more snug fit. One little feature that I like about this rod is the hook keeper. I have always used one of the eyes on the rod, and I'm sure that will wear them out faster. As I said, I'm not an expert fisherman, so the things that I get excited about may be the "wrong" things, but this is my review.Overall, this is a nice combo and I think it's a fair price. I would guess it's a $20-30 rod with a $40-50 reel.

This Sougayilang Spinning Fishing Rod Reel is a bit small but that doesn't affect its functionality. The reel is very smooth but again it's small. Great for lake fishing but not recommended for salt water.

Reels very smooth and really looks nice for the price. Pulled on it and picked up a 10 pound weight with it, so it should catch the crappie and such I am going to go after with it.
