Chestnut C3 Manual Coffee Grinder (Matte Black) (with S2C Burr Inside)

I had been using a cheap hand grinder for years now. It was an InstaCuppa hand grinder which I had purchased for around 1500.00 and I was really skeptical about this as it costed a lot. Sometimes we think that a product does not deserve such a price but this has been amazing! The unboxing experience was so refreshing and great and the first feel was phenomenal. It absolutely feels true premium and as if you are holding a piece of art! Even if it did not do any work, I would still pick it everytime! And now regarding the grinding, it is blazingly fast. It took me 2 minutes to grind 15g of coffee in my previous grinder and I always thought that it was normal until I got this masterpiece. It takes 30 seconds. What the hell? 30 seconds. Ridiculous! I will make it easy for you to purchase. If you cannot afford an automatic grinder and if you picture yourself making your own coffee all your life, this is the purchase you need. I don't think you would need a hand grinder, it just takes 30 seconds.

It’s very good for grinding coffee beans - it takes around a minute to grind the filled top. Good even grinds. I use it only for pour overs so can’t comment on espresso quality. It’s solid, looks and feels like it’s built to last. But it’s also convenient to carry in your backpack or briefcase. One warning - I’d advise first time buyers is to get help on getting the grind setting right. Somehow it was not that clear and I wasn’t able to follow the guidelines (or YT videos). It’s not very intuitive I feel, but that could be just me. I had to get a friend to show it to me. But once I got past that, it has been great using it.

Upgraded from Hario Mini Mill and was glad. A more consistent grind and it is very quick comparatively. A grind ‘very fine’ used to take 5-6 minutes with hario, only tames half of that with C3. I am not sure if it’s a worthy upgrade from c2. If money is not a constraint, buy the c3.

I had been using Hario Mill Dome for over a year before I decided to upgrade, primary reason, it took forever to grind beans for just one cup (15-18 gm). I was looking for something under 7-8k, and after a lot of research, I decided to go for Chestnut C3. Everything from packaging to build quality is good. I am able to grind medium roast beans 18 gms in under a min for French press brew. Grind quality is good for the price. I don’t know of any other manual grinder at this price which is better than this.

Amazing grinding tool with good precision. Little jerky with light roast.

The product itself is excellent, but be cautious about buying it through Amazon. If purchased via Amazon, the warranty does not apply. The vendor, Brewing Gadgets India, offers warranty coverage only for products bought directly from them. I purchased this item four months ago, and it developed a defect. Unfortunately, Amazon refused to provide warranty support, and the vendor declined to replace it because it was purchased through Amazon. If warranty coverage is important to you, I strongly recommend buying directly from the vendor rather than through Amazon.

I use an Aeropress each morning so I was researching what manual coffee grinder to buy since freshly ground beans is a major factor in good coffee. At first, I was considering grinders in the $40-$60 range but read about lots of these units being defective since they're made cheaply. Eventually I read about the Timemore C2 and saw many good things mentioned. In the comment section of a video review I watched, someone mentioned the new C3 model and how it was an all-around upgrade to the C2. There wasn't much info about it since it was fairly new but I took the chance and ordered it. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this product. The C3 has a nice weight to it and after 9 months of use I've had no problems with it. It feels well-built and the extra ~$60 I may have spent on it over a cheap grinder is well worth it since it's something I use everyday.

The best grinder for your budget

I upgraded to this hand grinder from a Hario, that gave inconsistent grind size and felt fragile while grinding, in addition to being slow (it would take me about 75 seconds to grind my 14gr standard dose to almost-espresso grind for my single-cup Aeropress brew). This hand grinder is a HUGE step up. Precision-made burr, metal shaft, nice hand feel while it grinds. Very precise grind size, and it's QUICK. The burr takes care of my standard dose in 15-20 seconds now, which astounds me (and makes me wish it was slower, because grinding feels so cool). This was an investment in happiness in everyday use. Absolutely recommend it.

Me encanta! Abres la caja y parece un micrófono de condensador profesional, hasta se siente como tal jaja. Es muy bien construido, sólo me causa un poco de problema al quitar y poner la manivela, me gustaría que el movimiento fuera más preciso y no manotear tanto. Hasta el momento, todo excelente. Y claro, la molienda es muy buena
