Q: Does this pan actually measure 12" wide (to fit into a toaster oven)? Also, is this a metal pan for best crispy results?

The pan is metal, but it is larger than 12" - I had to return it because I use a toaster oven and need to use a pan no larger than 14 inches. Be very careful - so many pans that are listed as being 12" are not. I apologize to amazon for saying this, but I found a few very nice old madeleine pans on Etsy. If you get scruffy used ones, just use some 'Bar Keepers Friend' (available on amazon) - now THAT is a miracle product. And with the older pans, which are not 'non-stick' - just brush each mold with melted butter and you will get nice madeleines with that touch of crispiness.

Q: Does this have a non-stick finish?

it is non stick but the coating will start flaking off after the first or second usage no matter how carefully you use them and care for them. At least it was my experience

Q: what is this made out of?

I think it's some kind of steel. It's magnetic and mine already has a bit of rust on the bottom edge and I haven't even used it yet. :(

Q: Is this pan safe in the dishwasher?

I don't know. I haven't put it in the dishwasher
