Meinl Percussion Stomp Box Kick Instrument - Electronic Pedal - Kick Sound Effect - With Output Jack - Aluminum, Multicoloured (STB1)

Made a great sound but I found it really difficult to get a consistent response. Not sure if it was faulty (maybe…..also the box had been opened before ) Had to send it back I’m afraid.

Kick switch needs a major effort to register. Having to put so much effort into getting it right takes your attention away from playing/singing. Also , no on/off switch or effects 9v power socket. Battery runs out even if your not using. You have to take the battery out every time to avoid it draining.

Sent it back. Unusable. The sound was okay when it worked, but the switch is so insensitive that it only triggers, at most 50% of the time, no matter what shoes you wear, or velocity you use. Waste of money.

The manufacturing is great, the look, the feel everything seems solid. However, my experience with this stomp box was far from fun. I wore the time honoured traditional Converse pumps and placed the pedal on a flat surface. 70% of my contact with the pedal did not result in a noise. I tried the heel position, that was the same. After 15 minutes of frustration and missed beats I’ve given up and returned the pedal. I can only surmise that although the button is quite large the sweet spot is tiny. No good for me when I’m playing, I need to concentrate on my hands and not where my foot is landing. Your experiences maybe different but, for me this was a bad experience and I’ll be checking out other options. Thanks for reading this.

I am a steady working musician that enjoys a good beat when doing solo, I purchased a Cajon with a pedal that I can play along with my guitar. That being said, I bought this thinking I’d get the same results. It sounds good when it’s activated exactly the same way with your foot every time it’s pressed, if you move your foot slightly or don’t hit it just right it won’t have the same volume thus loses punch. I would say it’s a little too difficult to concentrate on where you’re placing your toe while strumming and singing, it would be great if it was as consistent as my Cajon sound.

I love this thing. It adds a lot to my solo acoustic gigs. My only knock on it is that I have to take the batteries out when not in use or they drain quickly.

Good sound and inexpensive kick unit for the money.
