UPDATE: I recently finished 700 miles on the Appalachian Trail. I wore these socks the entire hike and probably wore one pair for 600 of those miles. I must say I'm impressed. Other than what looks like "normal" wear (no holes, elastic still tight, no fraying, etc.), I can probably get several hundred more miles out of them. They're definitely durable, they're warm, they dry quickly for a thick sock, and they kinda act like compression socks when pulled all the way up on cold days. They also seem to wick moisture well during the warmer days.These socks outlasted my first pair of shoes (got 500 miles out of those). If you're looking for a very good sock for much less than you'd pay for the more popular hiking socks, I'd recommend these.*This is a preliminary review. I got these for my section hike of the AT. They fit to size and were warm and comfortable out of the box. I wear size 12 shoes and got the XL. I'm not sure yet on durability, but they were 1/3 the price of Darn Tough, so we'll see. I've been able to trust the Carhartt brand for several years.

They keep my feet warm and are comfortable. What else could you ask for?

The fit and feel is great. Some reviews didn’t like the tightness around the calves? I like the fit around the calves, they don’t slip down during extended periods on my feet. I’m 5’-9” and 190 lbs and the fit it fine. I will purchase again.

I purchased these socks for winter in maine and working along side a river all winter. The socks are great for work boots and warmth. I have no complaints yet and I wear these often vs other thick socks I own.

They just arrived today. I haven't worn them yet, but they are very thick and appear to be well made and I am confident they will keep my feet warm. Thickest pair of socks I've ever owned.

These are the first over the calf socks that have managed to stay up all day. If your calves are way above average sized they may be too tight. But on avg or skinnier calves, these will stay up. The material is spongy and dense so they do provide nice cushioning. Also a great price for two pair of decent wool blend socks, surpassed my expectations.
