Great value for a basic hand rail for steps
This handrail is very basic and will work fine if consideration is given to the hardware included. I chose to use the plastic expansion anchors and matching screws instead of the steel expansion anchors because in 40 years I've had mixed results with steel expansion anchors as the drilling has to be precise and they very often spin entirely while tightening. On the other hand this size plastic expansion anchors typically offer over 170 pounds of pull out force which is adequate as there are two on each side of each post for around over 300 pounds of pull out force. It will be sturdy for a very long time for light to moderate usage. I am considering buying another one of these handrails as they're easy to install if you use the plastic expansion anchors. I used a hammer drill with a 8 mm masonry drill for the plastic expansion anchors to result with a tight anchor basis.

Great handrail, poor quality anchors.
My parents love this handrail. I did encounter issues with the concrete anchors stripping when I tightened the nuts down. Once those were replaced, the rail is very sturdy. I also added a section of pipe insulation to the middle portion for comfort. Other than the anchors, the installation was simple and I would recommend this item.

The railing is decent.
I had a few problems with the railing, so I suppose I could say that for the price it's a decent purchase. I will admit that it looks nice. So, here's the problems that I had (and other reviews mention these things): *The instructions are just a parts list with a few pictures. I mean it's not really difficult to figure out how to assemble it, but if you are not mechanically inclined on how to drill into wood or concrete, then I'd suggest watching a few YouTube DIY videos. It wasn't hard to install but I've done this stuff before so I can see how it might be a little difficult for an inexperienced person tackling drilling into concrete or brick for the first time. *Probably my biggest gripe is the top handrail. It attaches to the top via two bolts with end cap nuts. Those two bolts go into the metal bolt fasteners underneath, which are way too large, so the top rail rattles and shakes real bad once you assemble. I think they meant to provide a rubber bushing or spacer to mitigate this issue but alas there's nothing provided. I used a very thin rubber tubing for plumbing and just cut off a piece and shaped it to fit around the bolt and fit them into the fastener sleeve. Now it's pretty sturdy, so I suggest you do the same if this is an issue for you. *Lastly, I needed to install into brick and if you're like me and use American measurements, you'll probably need to get your own mortar bits. I think I used 3/16 for my pilot holes and 3/8 for the holes. Their included anchor bolts are okay, they did the job, but I only used them because my hardware store was out of anchor bolts of the right length otherwise I would suggest getting your own. Again, for the price I'd have given this a 4 star review, but the 3 above problems dropped my rating a bit. If you have even a little skill with doing home projects, I'm sure this product will do the job, and as I mentioned earlier, it looks nice.
