When the item arrived, it was carefully packaged and came in a nice box. The box had all the instructions necessary for the assembly of the bottle (that is putting the filter in), care and use.Before the item arrived I was very curious "How does the filter fit in?" but it was surprisingly easy to put in. You just drop the filter in, squeeze the bottle and the filter falls into its place when you give it a shake or two, and you release. That is all. And to clean the bottle, just squeeze the bottle and the filter will release so you can take it out. The bottle does get a few scratches but it is nowhere visible unless you look very carefully. I did not observe any flaking or chipping from the filter just like some people were worried about.I am someone who carries my bag everywhere, my bag has my laptop or tablet in it all the time and it becomes a very risky thing to have a water bottle in my bag in case it comes open and damages my gadgets or documents.The most important thing about Black + Blum bottle is very secure in terms of the lock. The cap is cork and the tag helps to tighten it so it does not slide off and open.The bottle itself is very visually appealing and has caught eye of all my friends who saw me using it. I personally love the design as it is very easy to grip and clean. The tag is actually very useful (to carry, to open, to keep it locked) despite looking like a small detail. The rim of the bottle is also very smooth and comfortable to drink from.The charcoal filter is very unique and cool-looking and also effective as Black + Blum advertises. It's effect is not immediate but it is a natural filter therefore I love the charcoal filter. It definitely makes difference to the tap water of my house when filtered and it tastes great.So far I have had this bottle for almost 4 months and I carry it everywhere and haven't had any issues. I have just ordered a backup charcoal filter to have it handy during my summer holiday!Overall, the item has a premium feel to it and is very easy to clean, use and the cap-lock is very secure.Considering buying the larger version carafe for my new house as I am very satisfied.Definitely recommended.UPDATE: It has been 3 years since I have been using this bottle. It's as good as new apart from losing a minor amount of shine and few scratches from being thrown around, survived many machine washes and the cork did not disintegrate contrary to my belief, absolutely love it and recommended.

I'd looked at this for ages and then a job-change put me in need of a bottle to keep fluids up. So, I took the plunge and I love it. The plastic is highly polished and looks like glass. The charcoal stick was a bit fiddly to get in the notch but I just used the end of a biro to wedge it in and it has stayed in place. I love the cork top and clip because it's so fast to use compared to having to unscrew other types.I did as others suggested and left the bottle overnight after filling it, and the water tastes just like still spring water. I cannot drink water straight from the tap and always have to add some juice or drink herb teas, but this tastes just like clean water after it's been left for a while. ... And so, it's upping my fluid levels tremendously already.I've been on the Black&Blum website as my preferred colour choice wasn't in stock, and I don't know if they are discontinuing the 'notch' model as all the bottles on the website were now straight bottles with the charcoal in a metal coil. If that's the case, I'd buy while in stock if you like/can live with the quirkyness because I couldn't find out what that metal was made of and don't know if I'm benefitting from purified water if there's been a piece of metal in it for hours. If you can find out what that metal is, that may not be a concern for you. But the water from this is wonderful and I love just love all the design features of this version!

I purchased this bottle as I liked the idea of some sort of filtering being applied to the water I drink on a daily basis from my bottle.Firstly, the bottle itself. It doesn't feel the most robust in the world, and as some of the other reviews mention, feels like it may break at some point in the future. I've only had the bottle a week and I can see stress marks in the plastic where the charcoal sits. Similarly, whilst the cork stopped is a nice touch, it probably won't last an awfully long time. Cheap materials aside, the bottle is easy to open and close, is water tight, and is easy to drink from.The charcoal is installed by dropping the stick into the bottle, squeezing the sides of the bottle to deform it slightly allowing charcoal stock to fall into a groove, and then allowing the bottle to return to its original shape, this holding the stick in place.You can definitely notice a positive difference in taste and smell when drinking tap water that has sat in the bottle for a few hours compared to fresh from the tap, the packaging states that complete filtration can take up to 8 hours so I fill mine up and leave it in the fridge overnight. For the price I would definitely recommend and hope that it doesn't fall to pieces too soon

I absolutely love this water bottle. I wanted one that used safe plastic, that didn't release chemicals into the water, didn't leak at all, was a good size (this is 800ml) filtered the water and looked good. This ticks all the boxes. The water tastes great!! It is perfectly leak proof and I love that Black and Blum sell replacement corks cheaply if you lose it. This is very consumer considerate and eco friendly as you wouldn't have to buy another bottle. The charcoal filter lasts for 6 months so it only costs a pound a month to maintain, which is around the price of a bottle of water in a cafe. I've ordered a second bottle and will be giving these for Christmas and birthday presents from now on. A fantastic product.

I have had one of these for years. Eventually I lost it and decided to buy a replacement. I looked exactly the same as my old one... with one difference -- Try as I might, I could not get the charcoal bit that came with the bottle to fit into the slot in the bottle. What a disappointment! I may try buying a replacement charcoal but, in the meantime, I am very disappointed.

This design works well: the bottle is pleasant to drink from, it doesn’t leak in my purse and tap water really does taste better with the charcoal stick.

La botella es muy bonita y sin duda cumple con su objetivo de quitarle las impurezas al agua. !Después de unas horas el agua del grifo sabe como el agua mineral! La forma de la botella la hace muy cómoda de sostener, a pesar de su gran tamaño. El tapón no cubre la parte dónde se apoyan los labios, lo cual no resulta muy higiénico.
