Easy to set up and record - good instructions, very sleek and compact. Will definitely use for business meetings over my iPhone as it is more discreet. I have not yet tried to download the recordings and to see how well it works at just recording non-dead space but I expect to be pleased.

I searched for ages for a good reliable voice recorder. I purchased at last a half dozen varying degrees of quality, mostly fair to poor. Then I came across the MR80 Mini Clip recorder. AWESOME is the only word I can use to describe it I placed it on a conference table surrounded by 16 people and recorded the conference. It picked up every single person's voice, even though who spoke softy and the quality of terrific. Next I placed it on a podium to record a lecture and the end result was an air quality recording. I've stopped looking. I've found the perfect voice recorder. It lives up to all of its advertised specs and the price is most reasonable for what you get.

i have now purchased this unit three times....and although it works like a dream, when it works, all of them had the same problem, and if you aren't super careful and very fast on transferring the files, you will lose everything. shortly after i plug it into the computer, the error message pops up that it wasn't properly ejected. and the icon is gone. the device thinks i have unplugged it. of course i have not, it is still sitting on the end of the usb cable. that all by itself wouldn't be that big a deal, but if you haven't already transferred your files onto the computer....then they are lost, about half the time. because the improper ejecting causes unit to freeze, requiring the "reset" button sequence to be pressed, in order to use the thing again. plus it does this while the transfer is happening a lot, and then it's gone for sure. as for the times when i can get stuff transferred before this happens.....those times.....it is the best recorder i have ever used. the best quality. picks up very clearly even with a ton of ambient noise. it is super small and therefore fits right in your pocket. i just wish they could figure out how to fix the problem. even as i'm typing this review, the icon is appearing and disappearing from my desk top, with the error message every few minutes. (and, yes, i have tried multiple other usb cables....and, no, i am not exaggerating, i have returned this three times.)

The voice activation worked exactly as I hoped. It was a little tricky to follow the manual and get it all setup - I did call for some help -- but it worked fine and the mic quality is very good.
