Surprisingly good
I have had quite a number of microphones and I've been using them for more than 20 years, so it's hard to surprise me. But BY-M1 Pro surprised me. It is good. Really, really good, way above the price. Comparing to Zoom lavalier LMF-2 microphone and the one that comes with Saramonic UwMic9, Boya has definitely better sound quality than both. Responsive in all frequencies (at least those that matter), pretty flat, neutral characteristic, not too boomy. Just right. Boya Pro seems like a sweet spot between quality and price. To get a better sounding lavalier microphone you would need to buy something really expensive. Interesting thing: there is not much reverb coming from Boya, at least comparing to other lavaliers. BY-M1 Pro is the closest to a dynamic microphone I've ever used. You can still hear all the background obviously, but it is relatively quiet comparing to your voice. Well done, Boya. The additional power featire works well and is more useful than you think. It means you can connect it to anything. Provided adaptor was good for XLR/TRS in EXH-6 for Zoom, but to connect it to a 3.5mm jack in Zoom F1 you will need to buy a TRRS to TRS 3.5mm adapter. Buy it, you will need it sooner or later. When I connected the microphone to XLR/TRS, there was a usual problem with a distinctive buzzing noise. It is expected, unfortunately. My Zoom is connected to a laptop by USB, so there are two different power sources: one coming from computer, one from the microphone. It causes strange special effects and it's the reason for buzzing noises. Switching off my USB keyboard made most of the buzz go away. Super strange, isn't it? Still, it's a common problem with connecting too many things together with separate power sources. I'm not sure if the microphone is to blame at all. So if you experience the buzzing problem, don't focus on the microphone alone. It's a more complicated problem. Besides, most of times you can still fix it. The microphone cable is way too long for me, but fortunately there is a strip on it that keeps the excess cable tidy. Good thinking. Overall quality seems solid enough, I see nothing to worry about. Generally, for the sound quality alone, it is cheaper than it deserves to be. Good stuff! I'm sure there is nothing better of there for that price, so if you need a lavalier that's the one to buy.

Strong signal with zero noise, very compact, excellent for price
I've just received this, but I've tested it and am very happy with the results. The issue I was most concerned about was, essentially, the signal to noise ratio. I can confirm that this is not an issue at all: I'm picking up zero noise when I'm not talking, and a very loud level when speaking (in fact I will have to turn the gain down a little I think). I recently returned a desk-standing cardioid USB microphone of a similar price, because it had quite a considerable noise level. Of course, this is because it was very cheap—but this USB lav mic is also very cheap, while delivering very decent performance. The sound quality is not perfect; I think it sounds a little muffled. But I don't want to overstate this—the quality really is very respectable indeed. I'm only planning on using this for video conferencing (zoom etc.). However, while it might make more sense to use a separate USB audio interface with an XLR lav mic if you've got a more professional use case, because of the price and portability, the LM40 could still come in handy. Physically, it all feels very well made. The cable is nice and long, with a velcro cable tie. The mic clip is very strong. Included is a soft pleather carry bag (it's not padded however). Overall, this is bound to be one of the best options for the price, for speaking at a computer.

Great sound for the price
The quality of the mic itself is excellent, but after many months of use I've experienced some issues with it occasionally cutting out (although I haven't seen anyone else mentioning this so maybe it's just me). If I had to guess that would be down to the cable which is very long and feels like it would be easily damaged.

More functionality than the Rode Lav GO at 80% of the sound quality & <50% of the cost!
I bought this as a replacement for my RØDE Lavalier GO which is mounted on the official Rode headset. I am a Twitch DJ and drummer (twitch.tv/drumdmc_the_dj plug, plug, plug lol!!) and so far the Boya seems up to the challenge! It just about fits the mounting clip on the headset, if not perfectly, but well enough for my purposes. A moderate tug will pull it out, but even then you can push it back in place with your fingers. If you were going to be moving around a LOT then you might want to wrap it with some tape to hold it in place, but it seems fine for me. The sound quality is fine for me as a presenter chatting on a livestream. It wouldn't do the job for filmmaking or singing on a recording, but more than good enough for presentations, livestreams, etc. Be aware, it's powered and runs VERY hot, line-level-wise (not temperature!) I literally have the mic gain on my DJ mixer set to zero and it comes through fine, even with the -10db cut feature on! Talking of which, the switch for tripole/dipole so you can use it on smartphones and standard audio recorders is really handy, rather than having to keep a dongle handy. Which nicely segues into the barrel/features. The powered barrel is a bit chunky and the belt clip is useless, so it's best when shoved into a pocket, which is a concern as you by necessity have to bend the wire, which is the most common reason for the cable to fail. Only time will tell on that one! That said, the cable is several gauges thicker than the Rode Lav, so I suspect it'll actually be harder wearing. The cable length is an unexpected godsend! It's not aimed at the audience that can afford a GO Wireless, so it's long enough to plug directly into my DJ mixer and leave me room to walk around the studio, get to the drumkit and play without getting tangled. Also on the subject of the barrel, the power appears to have some kind of auto-off feature because the 2 watch batteries powering are still going a couple of weeks after purchase and I KEEP forgetting to turn off the power. All-in-all, amazing for the money, all the features I need and then some, made up for with 'good enough' sound quality. This is not going to replace your Sennheisers any time soon! Only time will tell if the cable can last longer than the 6 months the Rode lav lasted me...

After doing research i found Boya Lavalier to be reccomended. I needed a new mic for my pc for gaming and discord. Postage was fast. Plugged in and it works and friends say sound quality is good. Minimal noise. Much better then my old ModMic which over time got a lot of noise/static.
