Excellent Reference Book
Despite the fact that I gave this a five start review its not really the kind of book that you are going to avidly read, gripped with the prose and breathtaking story. No, this is a reference book that primarily focus' on the design and designations of the tanks with of course their operational history used as the thread to hold it altogether. There is an extensive reference of marks at the back of the book as well. Its pretty dry to say the least.BUT. It is a superb reference book for someone who wants to learn a bit about the tank and even more relevantly build a scale model of one that's accurate and reflects the actual item in a particular time frame. Which is where I am really. For a long time I ignored the Churchill as being a bit of a waste of space - driven by the ideas of my youth in the 70's I suspect. However, having started to learn a bit more about them and with the fantastic breadth and depth of information available on the web I think the Churchill has had a revival as a historical military vehicle with much praise heaped upon it for its abilities for it's chosen task which is to be a support tank for the infantry. So if you re genuinely interested in the Churchill and especially so if you ware making a scale model then this is an excellent reference book. If, however, you are looking for a good historical read then this might just be a bit parchment like.

Good for modellers and historians.
Very good read if you like Churchill tanks in NWE. Includes unit histories and period photos with modelling advice.Let down by the so called Churchill expert who included two different unit insignia on the same tank. Can someone tell him the difference between 6 Guards Armoured Brigade and the Guards Armoured Division! The latter was a Sherman unit.

An excellent resource for anyone interested in the Churchill tank as ...
An excellent resource for anyone interested in the Churchill tank as used by the British army from Normandy until the end of the War in North West Europe, in particular those wishing to produce models of Churchill tanks. Lots of relevant photographs, well-captioned, and a large and valuable section on modelling this important AFV.
