UV Bank Note Checker [Electronics]

I got this for my dad's shop that has a lot of holiday makers during the summer. Where the non-regulars may try and pull a fake bank note on you.Checking the note by holding against the light isn't exactly subtle, whereas this device can be done under the counter without arousing suspicion even in full daylight/with the lights on.As well as checking the basics of bank notes, it can also check credit/debit cards. On the debit cards, you shine over the 'VISA' bit, and you get a 'V' appearing over the 'I' and the 'S'.Another piece this little wonder claims to check are stamps, I checked my 2012 Olympic stamps, but I couldn't tell unfortunately what showed it was real (or fake).The torch works great in pitch darkness, if you're wondering if both UV light and the torch can be on simultaneously? Unluckily no.The device has a strap, and a leg like on photo frames to make it stand.It takes 4 x AA batteries.All the information of light is on a sticker, stuck on it. Info such as:-Bulb size - 106.038-Wavelength of UV light - 300nm-400nm-Power consumption - 6V-Weight - 92g-Dimensions 55x23x160mmOn the (current) £5 and £10 notes, their corresponding value are on the bottom left-hand side, on the Queen's side.On the (new) £20 and £50 notes, their values are at the top and middle of the note, also Queen's side. Also, the £20 note also has little white lines scattered across the note, another indication it's genuine. My colleague pulled out several old £50 notes, surprisingly there were no marks visible by the UV light on all the notes tested.Reminder/note:-It can be used with the light on.-I bought this from 'Motion Performance - Waxacar' for £5, ordered on Saturday afternoon, arrived Wednesday morning.-On this day, you can pay as little as £3:50, or the max. of £7 for those perhaps that has an annual Amazon Prime delivery. These prices are very good value.-I heavily suggest any small businesses to have one of these. If any fake notes does slip through, and you pay it into the bank, they'll confiscate it. Leaving you feeling the impact.

LIGHT IS HARD WORK TO USE AS NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH. NEED A LOT OF SHADE TO BE EFFECTIVE. BUT AT THE PRICE, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

DO NOT buy this UV Light. Once I'd found 4 new AA batteries for it (not included with the light), I switched it on. It had a very pale purple light and certainly not strong enough to see bank notes etc. with. However, more importantly - IMMEDIATELY when I switched it on, it started smelling strongly of burning and the UV lamp went out and the unit became very hot. At that point I took the batteries back out to avoid any risk of fire. Have tried the lamp again and it doesn't work although the burning smell started again. This lamp is a complete waste of money, is a hazard and not fit for purpose.

Exactly what was needed. Use this in my cab replacing a broken one. This unit has saved me a fair bit of cash with the level of forgeries that go about. Excellent purchase and highly recommended for anyone dealing with cash and in the public sector.

portable black light lamp is ok for bank notes but for anything else which requires uv black light i would spend more. i bought this product to read the secret messages on grand theft auto limited edition blue print map and found the bulb is not bright enough to show hidden messages well. you have to leave lamp on 2 mins before it shows uv messages and also have to hold right against map. its cheaply built but cant complain about that as price is low and you get what you pay for i guess. overall i give this product 2 stars as it does what its designed for anything bigger and it struggles to perform well.

The switch needed working through. The torch light is good, but you to be aware that it is so easy to leave on UV.

I bought this as an educational resource to view bank notes and UV pen writing. It works perfectly for the pupils. The light isn't the brightest but for my purposes it does what I need it to and at such a reasonable price.

Anche se il materiale e semplice plastica mal realizzata devo dire che la lampada è molto valida, lo consiglio chi come me la usa per lavoro senza farsi molti problemi sull'estetica. Ottima spedizione . 5 stelle perche fa decisamente bene il suo dovere, non valuto la qualita delle plastiche.

La carcasa es de plástico barato y es dificultoso acceder al sitio de las pilas. Apenas ilumina pero cumple perfectamente su cometido.

Für den Preis ganz ok, halt billig verarbeitet und alles nur Plaste, aber für das Geld eben ok. Da kann man nicht viel erwarten, trotzdem Zweck erfüllt.
