Great gift for a "landmark" birthday or anniversary

This is a great gift for anyone born in 1981.

My guy was born in 1936, graduated from high school in 1954 I bought him books for both years. They're on the table by his favorite chair. He keeps looking at them and remarking about this n that, how things were like waaaay back then and how much has changed. It brings back old memories. Even tho he's kept up with the times - takes classes & works full time with an array of computers in his office - he finds it interesting to see what it was like the year he was born, and to remember music, movies etc that he can remember when he was 18 and graduated from high school. He's particularly tickled that his beloved Green Bay Packers won the superbowl in one of those years. These may be small booklets, but they contain a wealth of interesting information. What music & movies were popular, what was the average income, cost of gasoline, cost of a brand new car, a home. I bought booklets for my birth and high school graduation years too. I'm shocked to realize I could write a check right now for the cost of a home in 1962 (the year I graduated from high school), and I'm far from rich. You could buy a brand new car for the cost of one month's rent of a decent apartment in Minneapolis. These would make great gifts for old and not-so-old alike.

It is essentially a card. I see now that it is listed in cards and has "Kardlet" in the name. However, I was sleep deprived and searching specifically for 1927 in the "Books" section. This should not have been that search criteria in my opinion. That's my fault. I usually pay more attention. Still, for a card (cardlet/booklet), it is amazing. It is still very interesting and I am certain my grandmother will love it for her 90th celebration.

I originally received one of these as a birthday card from my mother a few years ago. It was so interesting to get a little glimpse of life back in the year I was born. A blast from the past, if you will. The ones I've seen feature average cost of living, common grocery item prices, popular products/ads, historic events, popular music and movies, and many other fun facts. I've gifted many Remember When Kardlets to friends and family since and they've all thoroughly enjoyed them. I highly recommend as a fun, thoughtful gift!
