Mad Dogs - Series 1 and 2 [DVD]

Suspension of belief is required for viewing this black comedy drama as the plot is as full of holes as a sieve but the acting from a substantially male cast of British stalwarts is generally excellent. Even the actors outwith the main quartet are on form, notably David Warner and Ben Chaplin. This DVD is for adult viewing only as there is a fair amount of swearing and graphic violence but somehow it seems appropriate for the storyline. Its principal merit is that you keep wanting to find out what further misfortune awaits our "heroes" and secretly hoping that everything will work out well in the end. As a result I have just ordered Series 3 as I only discovered this show when a friend recommended it although I understand it has been available for a while now.

As I haven;t got Sky, which is where this series was shown, and after hearing everybodies good comments, and liking all the actors in this series, I decided to buy, as this set was such a good price. Arrived superquick and I watched both series over 2 nights, couldn;'t stop watching, loved every minute and straight away bought series 3 as soon as it came out. Will definitely be one of those sets that I shall watch again and again. As series 3 finishes on an "open" note, I heartily anticipate series 4 !

The original Mad Dogs series 1 is very good indeed. I had my doubts about Max Beasley, but he is just as good as the excellent Simm, Glennister and Warren.Great storyline with a few twists I didn't see coming and gripping ending.........couldn't wait to watch series 2.It was a let down. Great cast & crew again, but obviously a quick re-hash of the scripts from series 1, and moving to Ibiza is pretty much all it is. I'll still get Series 3 & 4, but felt this could have REALLY developed after such promise from series 1.

Great to finally see the full sets. Missed half when being aired due to work commitments! I recommend :)

As above, packaging and delivery was spot on. Quick and good quality. The telly series itself....meh!It's OK, not the best series in my honest opinion. I'm a bit Philip Glenister fan, but he's just not as good in this as he was as the Gene Genie.For the price it's worth getting if you've not seen it before.

`I bought this because I had enjoyed other dramas starring these actors. Didn't enjoy its black humour as much as I'd hoped, perhaps I expected mature men , all of whom were portrayed as over 40 to have been less idiotic in their actions. Thought it tailed off in the second series and it's unlikely I'll buy series 3 or 4

Gritty characters that sometimes I love and then later hate, then love again. Hate paying so much for this, but it's so good I can't resist it. Have watched it twice already. Something a man would be proud to lend to his mate.
