Very good waterproofer

This is the best on the market today for blankets, used it for years on my horses blankets.I wich someone could provide a version with teflon, so it keeps the blankets more waterproof.The horses doesn't get wet, but the blankets getts heavy of all water into the fabrics.When you have many horse blankets to pull off and carry, it getts heavy *smile* This is just a wish anyway..............I know this already excist since the RAMBO blankets has it, when you bye them new.Ewa from Sweden

I was worried this wasnt going to work but it's brilliant.I washed my rug first in the washer after getting mud off in the bath.Then make sure no washing powder is in your washer drawer.Pop the rug in with 500 ml. In the drawer.The rug felt dryer than the rugs I have not washed and proofed yet.

I read the reviews posted on Amazon and found this very helpful. Based on the reviews I read I decided to follow the hand application method. Washed blanket with Nikwax Rug Wash, then without drying it took it straight into a large plastic container where I soaked it as per the instructions for 2 hours, turning it occasionally.Once the soaking was completed I gave it a couple of rinses in the bath to get most of the product off then put the blanket back in the washing machine for the rinse and spin cycles.When I hanged it on the wash line for drying I could see some of the lines that I had read about it in a review but as per that review once the blanket was dry there were no lines.The blanket feels lovely and soft, better than when new!! Still have to wait for winter to see how it performs but I poured some water on it to test it and it looks fine. Even the lining which was previously not waterproof now appears to repel the water.If it works as good as it looks I will use it every year to prepare for winter.

Although the product is easy to use that’s not much of a benefit if the product doesn’t actually work. Followed instructions including washing with the recommended product applied the waterproof solution using the washing machine. Tried on horse and after one rainy day horse was soaked. The rug was not waterproofed. So this means the other rugs I have used this on will probably leak like sieves! Not happy at all, a waste of time and money

I bought this as although it's much more hassle to wash my horse rugs myself it's a lot cheaper then sending them away to be cleaned. I bought the Nikwax Rug Wash as well as I read that results were better if the rug was thoroughly clean. I've used it in both the washing machine for smaller, no fill rugs and in a big bucket for larger, thicker rugs. Obviously it's easier in the washing machine but the results are both the same regardless of the method used. All my rugs have remained waterproof despite the really wet winter we've had.
