High quality print, rich in knowledge, explanation and images. A must read for anyone starting or even highly knowledgeable students of the art of alchemy. Can be read many times yet will always find something new.

Say what you want but this book is a masterpiece with a magnificent collection of drawings, sketches and paintings showing Alchemy and Mysticism. Well worth the money and while have an always place in my library.

I'm interested in the symbolism used to illustrate alchemical texts. Many books on alchemy reproduce odd plates from key texts, which whetted my appetite to find out more. This book is extensively illustrated, and arranged by themes, and went a long way to satisfy my interest. The author draws connections with William Blake's thinking and illustrations, as well as masonic and Asian sources. You'd probably want to have a basic background knowledge first, but to me it was an economic way of accessing a lot of the art around alchemy. "Mysticism" in the title I felt a bit misleading: it was more about esoteric world views.

Great concise book on a subject with so many tangents. The price is good for the size of the book and the content, the illustrations and images inside are a nice quality too. It’s a nice book to flick through with a tea, I kind of wish they had a larger version though... just my personal preference for these types of images. Still I don’t regret buying it, I’m a sucker for anything Taschen does.

The introduction in itself is worth the cost. A great collection of Hermetic, gnostic, alchemical, Kabalalistic imagery and writings. The wealth of culture revealed and referenced within this book is impossible to quantify. Absolutely first class. It's a must have for any collection, especially those interested in medieval philosophy; the baroque period, or the Occult in general.

Good hard back with lots of pages, plenty of illustrations and very informative.

Arrived in a sealed package. this company (a...n) prints the books and you can see on the picture it is terrible. Paper is thinner and feels cheap, dust cover is low resolution and shiny, the book cover is cheap print, the whole experience of the book is nothing like Taschen is supposed to be. It is awful. If you have never seen the book before, you would be in impression this is the way the book is supposed to be. It is not. If they can print books how they like, do they edit or change books to what suits them? This happened many times, it is not just this book. I would suggest shopping elsewhere, if you can. The best option is from a proper book store where you can see it before buying it.

Je me suis régalée à feuilleter les pages de ce livre. Attention, il faut avoir un assez bon niveau en anglais pour le lire (dans le cas contraire, un traducteur auto fera l'affaire mais à vos risques et périls). Je ne suis pas complètement profane niveau connaissances en ésotérisme mais je ne cesse d'apprendre de nouvelles choses fascinantes à travers ce livre. Et qu'est ce qu'il est beau ! Les illustrations sont captivantes ! L'état du livre est impeccable, les pages sont d'un blanc immaculé. Il est arrivé correctement emballé sous papier blister. Je n'achète d'habitude jamais des livres neufs donc je ne sais pas si c'est habituel en tout cas ça suffit à m'impressionner. J'ai dû contacter le vendeur pour obtenir une information avant la livraison et ils ont été très réactifs pour me répondre.
