Coming To Find You: the Sunday Times Bestseller and this summer's must-read thriller

One of her best.
Having been dubbed by my mother a ‘book-snob’, I will confess that I initially doubted whether I could enjoy Jane Corry’ novels. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by how gripping and entertaining they are, and have now read every single one. I was really looking forward to reading this on holiday, and was not disappointed. Most of the ‘Jane Corry-isms’ were present: the South-West-seaside-setting; an unreliable female narrator; a dark secret; shifting time and perspective; a brief jaunt to to prison, and of course a murder. There was even what some might consider a few plot twists. (There was not, however, any reference to lavender, or to an obscure art/craft, which I was slightly disappointed by, though I soon got over it.)This is an easy, and pleasant read, and I can guarantee that if you enjoyed any of her previous books, you will enjoy this one too. In fact, I think it’s my new favourite. I especially liked the WW2 sections, and hope she does more like this.

Bit disjointed
Story goes backwards and forwards over time spans

Okay but not great
The book starts off well. It's set in two timelines with the earlier story being the better of the two.As I got towards the latter part of the book, I felt it dragged somewhat. It just didn't hold my attention so much, and by the end of the the book I was struggling to care one way or the other about the main characters.

AWESOME read to kick-off 2024 for me !
‘23 - READ ‘24 - 5 STARSDESCRIPTION : A heart-stopping psychological thriller about a woman running from the aftermath of a gruesome family tragedy--and also from the truth about her part in it. You can run away from your life . . . but you can't hide from murder. Nancy's mother and stepfather have been brutally killed, and after a trial that gripped the nation, her stepbrother has been convicted of the double murders. But the end of the trial is just the beginning of a new nightmare for Nancy: the press is rabid, certain that Nancy isn't the grieving daughter she's presenting to the world. In fact, they believe that she knows more than she's telling about that night at the farmhouse. What really happened that night at the farmhouse? And what will Nancy have to do to keep the truth hidden?REVIEW :I’ve read 5 out of 7 books by this author which were My Husband’s Wife (‘16 - Read ‘21 - 4 Stars), Dead Ex ('18 - Read '20 - 4 Stars), I Made A Mistake ('20 - 4.5 Stars), I Looked Away ('19 - 3 Stars) and Blood Sisters ('17 - 4 Stars). As of 12/24/23 Jane’s last two books were not available on Kindle in the U.S. - THE LIES WE TELL (‘21) and WE ALL HAVE OUR SECRETS (‘22).So happy this new release was available in the U.S. on Kindle. I’ve been missing her writing and storytelling ability. I love a book that right from the start makes you think of the characters even when you’re not reading. Storylines from two generations which I enjoyed immensely even though I’m not a historical fiction lover. I was riveted to both stories; full of suspense and a glimpse at life during WWII. I also liked the cliffhangers between the two timelines. Perfect read to me!

Very good
I didn’t think I was going to like this when I first started this book but I’ve always enjoyed this authors books so decided to continue and I’m very glad I did. Set in 2 different time zones, full of suspense and an insight into what it was like to live in Devon during WW2, very good book.

LIFE CHANGING MOMENTS...
You can run away from your life . . . but you can’t hide from murder.Nancy’s mother and stepfather have been brutally killed. After a trial that gripped the nation, her stepbrother has been convicted of the double murder. But the end of the trial is just the beginning of a new nightmare for Nancy: the press is rabid, certain that she is hiding something. Certain that she knows more than she’s telling about that night at the farmhouse . . .Determined to disappear, Nancy flees to the seaside in Devon, to Tall Chimneys, her grandmother’s secluded inn–a place that holds many dark wartime secrets. Then someone sends her a letter. They know the truth about the night Nancy’s mother and stepfather were murdered. They know she’s been lying. And they promise to come find her. Because they have nothing to lose.MY THOUGHTS:As we journey with the characters in Coming to Find You, we are caught up in the lives of people living in different generations. We start by learning about Nancy, whose mother and stepfather were murdered by her stepbrother, and we are swept into what happened during WWII, with the grandmother of our current protagonist.Back and forth the tale weaves until we are so immersed in the secrets and lies that we learn about, and finally the story ends with Nancy in the present day as she discovers much of how things happened for them all.A gripping story that kept me engrossed throughout. 5 stars.***
