MAKE SURE this is the right cable for your phone!
I feel badly, writing a one-star review for a product which is probably perfect, but the title of the product is misleading. I have a Polycom SoundStation 2 (Non Expandable) (2200-16000-001) , and purchased this cable in order to be able to use it as speaker and microphone for Skype calls through my computer. But it didn't work- the microphone barely picked up anything at all, even when I was shouting right into the unit (yes, the computer mic boost was turned on).So, before you purchase this cable, take the time to review these pages:[...]...and then understand that this item is the 2200-07878-001 which is labeled 2457-17240-001. If you've got the 2W, it seems you're good to go with this cable. If you've just got the SoundStation2 though, try Computer Calling Kit for Sound STATION2 with LCD & Voicestation 500 instead as I did, because it works.

I used this to connect my SoundStation IP7000 phone to my PC and now I can enjoy the clarity of the phone while using my computer calling applications like Skype. On a long day I will even play Music on it in-between calls.

cool add-on for the Soundstation 2
works perfect and makes videoconferencing over the computer a great experience! So the hardware of the SS2 could be used for canceling echo and make a good sound

Works Fine, would have been better with a USB plug
This works as they say it will. It allows your polycom conference phone (model ip7000) to be used as a speakerphone and microphone for your computer. It uses 3.5mm audio plugs for the sound input/output. If it used a USB plug instead, I'd have given a 5-star. But I have compensated for my wishes by buying a Sybia SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter. So I plug the two audio plugs into the adapter and voila! USB! Now I can select the phone from amoungst the other audio devices available to my computer.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001MSS6CS/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1

Great for Skype, GotoMeeting, or WebEx
I'd wanted one of these for a newly purchased SoundStation 2 EX sow we could use it in VOIP situations (skype, gotomeeting, webex), but it turns out the SS2EX came with one in the box, already! Unless you already have a SoundStation and/or lost the cable, you shouldn't need this. Availability seems limited (I checked dozens of sites), and is often unavailable. It's literally just a $2 cable (yes, cable markup is insane) -- you could cobble one together by hand if you wanted, but it's not worth the trouble.

A rip off
This is a rip off ! a cable that should cost no more than $2-3 is charged premium taking advantage of the proprietary connector on the polycom side. But what could you expect.. it is from polycom !

Good, but seems overpriced and cable is not long enough.
It did the job so I was happy with that. The cable is very short though - I'm sure it would have cost little to add a metre or two to the length - especially at the price charged, which seems a lot for a simple cheap-to-produce cable.
