Got this for my child that plays sports to use when her muscles get sore. I love the mess free application and it is small enough to throw into a gym bag. Since this is the child version,, there is no heat, only the cooling effect of menthol. My daughter did say it took several minutes for the cooling effect to take place, and several more minutes to get some relief afterwards. Once it wore off, she still had some soreness, but not as intense as it was before. So overall, we are quite happy with this product.

I like the roll on option of these for kids. My 5 year old gets growing pains at night and trying to find sobering to rub on his legs. This has been super helpful that he can even rub it on himself and not have to wake me up.

They are therefore not suitable for children. The smell is too much and some children may even get a headache just from it.If you want a pain relief for minor bumps on your little ones, this children's version could work well. This is a 4% version of the same medicine. The roll on version carried a pleasant blue roller and seems to be sufficient even for a teenager when a surface application of an analgesic is needed.The product itself is well known and is made in the US. The price is right and can help your children psychologically if they have a bump. Hopefully, this it is a minor injury and this product should give the immediate relief your child needs. Given the pedigree of this product and the experience we have already had on our teenager, I have no reason to not give it the full five stars.

I would assume most people are familiar with Icy Hot, it's a topical pain reliever for muscle and skin pain. This is a toned down version for kids with less menthol than the adult version. I've been using it on the kids and it works but I don't know if it's the medicine or just the psychological effect. Sometimes a kid is just upset and needs attention and a minute to relax, I find this helps. The roll on applicator makes it really easy to apply so you don't have to wash your hands after. Letting the child sit while you roll it on gets their mind off the injury. A light layer goes a long way so I don't hesitate to use it, the novelty of the product draws their interest more than a band aid. There is definitely a cooling effect as well, I'm not saying it doesn't work as advertised, I just can't say from my own experience how much the medicine is doing. I tried it on my skin and it felt good but the weaker dose isn't enough for me.
