The Complete Albums Collection

I was surprised on how fast I received it. Even more happy to listen to it for hours on end. So happy I ordered a new one to give to a friend to enjoy as well.

APP is one of my favorite groups of all time, that being said I was happy to get the bulk of all their LP's in one place. I do have this set on CD but instead of tracking down each LP on it's own (some are not in print) I figured this to be easier. I was wrong. The actual recordings a d quality of the Half-Speed mastering is spot on and sounds amazing, my qualms are with the horrendous quality of the vinyl itself. Why go through all the trouble of a Half-Speed mastering process to press everything on the noisiest vinyl you can find. 5 of the LP's are so bad I cried. You charge upwards of $400 and as a buyer you kind of expect quality. There's no quality here, no quality control at the pressing plant. I'm glad I saved $100 by getting this from Amazon and not from Alan Parsons directly because I'd be more angry than I am now. Don't expect amazing things from this set, it's a letdown in the overall quality department.

I was missing so many from my collection and now have the completed cd collection.

I have the complete Alan Parson's collection on vinyl and play them often but this set is great when I need portability or just don't have the time for flipping and changing records. My only complaint is that the packaging is 100% paper and I doubt it will hold up to years of use.

A box set like this is something I'd been wanting for some time, as I'd never owned all of the Project's work, so it was quite exciting when this was announced some months back. The Alan Parsons Project is one of those bands that charted - and charted numerous times - back in the late 70s and the 80s, but here in the States their music today seems all but forgotten except by those in the know. This is an absorbing, fascinating progression of albums, and I spent much of yesterday and last night sifting through it. If I had to pick the high points I'd choose "I Robot," "Ammonia Avenue," and "Pyramid." Of course, there isn't really a bad album in the bunch.The sound is just plain killer - smooth, strong, transcendent even. There will always be some compression issues on CDs when compared to vinyl, but you must have incredibly sensitive ears to be able to hear any on this collection. I also understand how some folks may be miffed that all the bonus tracks from the previous reissues weren't included, but I really do believe that if you're honest with yourself, you'll admit that the bulk of that material was little more than works in progress and did not really add a whole lot to the overall listening experience. The fact that material wasn't included likely makes the audio quality here all the stronger, as there's less than 45 minutes worth of information on each CD.The outer cardboard box is nice and sturdy, as are the "album" covers included inside. Squeeze them slightly and the CDs slide right out. No struggle whatsoever, or worry of scratching. Sweet reproductions they are, too, and both "I Robot" and "Eve" replicate the gatefold aspect. (The "Stereotomy" gimmick with the plastic outer sleeve is not replicated.) The enclosed booklet is largely made up of track listings, credits and artwork, although there is a page detailing the history of "The Sicilian Defence," and a nice thank you section written by Parsons, who singles out his partner Eric Woolfson, and confesses that his work today "could never be the same without Eric's contribution."Speaking of, "Defence" is not the travesty legend would have fans believe - nor is it genius. But a listenable curiosity, sure to intrigue the hardcore fan? Most definitely.I cannot remember the last time I purchased a CD box set of this size, but it sure does take me back to the days in which I got loads of enjoyment from such beasts, and more importantly, it takes me back to a time when music was made in much different way than it so often is today. These albums are clearly made by people who care about quality, and this box set and its contents reflects that. If you are new to the Project, you simply cannot go wrong with this set. Fans who own all the previous CDs? I am less sure about recommending it to you, but I'm sure you've already figured whether or not it piques your interest. I managed to snag this for the Amazon pre-order price of $67, but I would have been just as happy with it had I paid twice that much.

A mio parere bellissimo cofanetto completo per chi ama "The Alan Parsons Project"! Io e mio babbo siamo degli appassionati, sono cresciuta ascoltandoli e nel tempo sono riuscita a possedere una bella quantità dei loro vinili. Ho comprato questo album come regalo di Natale per mio babbo ed è stato apprezzatissimo! Consegna rapida e confezione impeccabile.

Praktiskt att få samtliga CD:na remastrade och samlade i en box med 11 CD skivor.Ljudet är fantastiskt jämfört med originalutgåvorna vilka ursprungligen var riktigt bra.Häftet som följer med kunde varit lite mer utförlig men med hänsyn till priset så är det utmärkt.

Everything on this was done right until the pressing plant. Every record was dirty but worse the first side of the first album has two very audible scratches which I assume were caused by the shards of vinyl I found In the inner sleeve. Could get my money back but not a replacement so I'm stuck with this. Gutted .

L’ingénieur du son anglais Alan Parsons a toujours eu une place un peu à part dans le cœur des amoureux de rock progressif tout au long des années 70's puis 80's au sein du "Alan Parsons project" (APP). Cette intégrale, parue en 2014 nous le prouve de belle façon avec un son remastérisé bienvenu pour l'occasion.Avec Eric Woolfson et Andrew Powell, même s'il n'a pas publié que des chefs-d’œuvre, il a, pourtant bien réussi réussi à prolonger "une forme de rêve musical thématique aux racines progressives ".C’est bien simple, comme on peut s’en rendre compte avec ce coffret de 11 CD, "The Complete Albums Collection". Tout – et le meilleur – est dit principalement dans les trois premiers albums. D’abord et surtout le concept-album sur l’œuvre d’Edgar Allan Poe, "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination" (1976), suivi de "I Robot" (77) et "Pyramid" (78). Chœurs glorieux, orchestrations symphoniques, synthés et mélodies radios coupées de longues plages planantes… Tout est là pour plaire et surprendre avec des textes et des thèmes suffisamment mystérieux qu'il captent tout de suite l'attention et l'intérêt mélodique de l'auditeur. Trois autres albums reprendront avec efficacité, ces éléments clefs, afin de donner au APP, une très forte notoriété et un succès mondial ("the turn of a friendly card" et "Eye in the sky" tout particulièrement) avant que les albums suivants perdent un peu de la touche magique initiale.Le tout s'écoute aujourd'hui encore avec un très grand plaisir, même si le son a un peu vieilli sou l'effet de l'abondance des sons retravaillés et de synthétiseurs surabondants.Toutefois, au-delà d'une nostalgie marquée par un parcours ayant soulevé de fortes émotions tout autant que des heures de plaisirs précieux, l'ensemble représente une très belle page de l'histoire de la musique, qui comportera son lot de souvenirs personnels pour tous ceux qui ont suivi l'APP, tout au long de ces années, voire de Madeleine de Proust pour les plus fans, dont je fais assurément partie. La présence d'un album concept sur le monde des échecs, jamais paru, apportera une touche supplémentaire (même si l'album est en retrait sur leurs œuvres majeures) pour les plus curieux.Le duo Woolfson-Parsons appartient pour toujours à la grande histoire de la musique par la puissance d'évocation de certains morceaux faisant partie de l'anthologie musicale des années 70's et 80's, si riches par ailleurs.En espérant que cet avis vous sera utile.
