Active Backplate fragile, cracked after installation
I have many EKWB products, CPU and GPU waterblocks; they all have performed flawlessly for years. The plexi on the Active Backplate cracked in several places, were the bridge piece for the fittings attach. The photos are within two hours, just before installing the waterblock there are no cracks seen.after installing in my PC and filling the loop and powering on, the waterblock was leaking.I removed the GPU and inspected the waterblock and seen the Active Backplate was cracked in serval places.WTF EKI contacted EK support center via their website, and sent photos.I'm Hoping EK sends me a replacement backplate.EK made the plexi plus the additional acetal end piece about 1 inch longer then the PCB.That is more than 1 inch longer than, it need be.I needed to remove the acetal end piece and trim the plexi a little, to work with my motherboard. The Active backplate is large and extends above the pcie slot; this may be a problem with many motherboards. If you have a high end 4090, you probably have a high end motherboard. Many Motherboard manufacturers put a lot of plastic and aluminum heatsinks on the motherboard. Many boards have a M.2 slot above the pcie. If you have a gen 5.0 SSD, the heatsink will probably interfere. Gen 5.0 M.2 SSD's need a heatsink. Your milage may vary. You may have to mod somethings to make it work.
