New Era is an established hat-brand, which - although rooted in sports - is worn more and more in today’s hiphop scene. It was founded in 1920 by the German brothers Erhardt and Christopher Koch in New York. When the popularity of Baseball grew fast in the US of the 1930s, New Era produced its first basecaps. Since 1993 the company has been the official supplier of the North American professionell baseball league MLB. The legendary 59fifty cap, which first came out in 1954, is not only the onfield cap of all MLB teams, but has also grown into a characteristic of urban lifestyle. Since 2017 New Era is also the official authentic headwear provider of the NBA, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), and NBA Development League (NBA D-League).
