Would these work for snow pants if layered over a pair of fleece pants? My son hates how thick normal snow pants are, and won't wear them.

I would think they would be fine. Living in Texas there is really not much need for snow pants but they will definitely keep the fleece pants dry underneath. We use these to wash our lambs for show and the girls stay warm and dry.
