A beautiful tale of growth.
The imagery found in Nell Plants a Tree makes the book stand out, both textually and visually. Not only does the book portray the planting of a literal tree, but also a figurative one. Before Nell's grandchildren climb and enjoy the tree, Nell planted a seed. The author goes back and forth between the ways the grown tree is enjoyed by Nell's grandchildren and the process that lead to the tree's existence. Themes of growth and careful tending bringing forth valuable 'fruit' highlight this beautiful homage to both the natural world and the world of a family. The careful tending leads to a beautiful tree as well as a wonderful family. Lyrical language combined with Miyares' beautiful art make for a tender read and a reminder that the best things in life require effort and time to come to fruition.

Sweet childhood memories of picking up pecans
Got a bit nostalgic, thinking of the pecan trees in our yard as a kid. Fun to remember days gone by and the warmth of family, as shared in this precious story.

Lovely story
This is lovely picture book! About a girl who plants a tree and it grows and her grandchildren get to enjoy the tree. There's parallel stories of the grandma, the tree, and the grand daughter. My kids really enjoyed it. They all ask me to read it multiple times a day.

Beautiful Book with a Memorable Message!
I first saw this book at a local library, and I was drawn to the cover. Intrigued, I picked it up and loved how well the author wove the process for planting a tree with the future joy this tree brings to children. It reminded me of my own family's experiences with trees planted in our yards! Highly recommend this book with beautiful matte pages and a beautiful message!

Beautiful story that connects to every aspect of childhood.
What a lovely story about family and how the seeds we plant today can affect generations to come! Beautiful illustrations show the back and forth between the children of today playing on a huge pecan tree, and Nell, the grandmother who planted the tree so many years ago. I love how every single page connects to a part of my childhood, from climbing trees to finding the perfect spot to read. Anne Wynter is an expert at crafting an amazing story and connecting with her audience!
