M-Wave Amsterdam Box Cargo Box/Topcase - Black

Have been after one of these for some time, finally bagged it for a very good price on here at around the twenty pound mark.Initial impressions were of a good quality item, and this has not changed.I found it fairly easy to fit to a Topeak Super tourist rack, though do bare in mind that if your saddle is not showing a lot of seatpost, you may have to hang it out over the back a fair bit so you can open it.After reading some of the other reviews here, I used a few lengths of inner tube to crudely cushion the box onto the rack, but also used these strips of tube to cover the spare holes - there are 8 in the base but you only use 4 - could not figure out what the other holes were for, perhaps someone else figured it out?Anyway, as others have noted, the lock is made of cheese, so the best solution is to leave it unlocked AND empty at all times when the bike is left unattended, otherwise I expect you may find it prised open and damaged.Irrespective, the box lets in no water, and does not inhibit the handling of the bike at all - I use mine for my commute, and put a towel at the bottom of the box to try and stop tools etc rattling, and this works well.The box is pretty full by the time I cram in lunch, snacks, tools, lock, some clothes etc etc, but it is more spacious that you would first imagine.Only negative, if you class it as such, is that unlike a rack bag, you come to a finite level of storage, where as with a rack bag you can generally squeeze a bit more in.Additionally a rack bag can be detached and taken away with you, where as of course with this you need to unload the contents - so it does take longer as you need to unpack when you arrive at your location, and then repack before you can go.Anyway, on the whole, as long as you have fitted your rack correctly, and do not overload this box (Which weighs virtually nothing) it will perform admirably.If it were to break, I would definitely buy it again, and I am tempted to buy another box to fit to my girlfriends Tricross, as it's damned useful if you want to go out on a weekend and take some food etc, or even just to buss into town to get some shopping, or go to the market etc etc.

This box is excellent. Just the right size for my folding electric bike. Having modified my bike I needed somewhere to house the battery. The box is the perfect size for this and keeps it dry. It also has room for my bike lock and lights. Minor problems are box on the carrier is close to saddle and only opens part way. Luckily with quick release saddle it opens fully when saddle removed. Box will also take saddle and stem to lock away when parked! Lock is not that strong but can be modified to increase security. But if someone is determined to smash your lock then they could smash your box! Luckily when bought from Amazon they had a used one (return?) which arrived packed and boxed in perfect condition. A superb buy with free delivery. Excellent service from Amazon. Poor Delivery from Hermes. Tracking said it was delivered (Left in porch) It wasn't and dont have a porch! No Hermes contact number, no card left. Contacted Amazon on their instant phone back service. Superb. They contacted Hermes while I waited and sorted it. Re-delivered next day. Will use Amazon again. Pity a good sale marred by sloppy delivery.

Loved the box..nice size for the small shop and the sizee of my bike.. wouldn't of made alot of difference once the bike was folded butI had to return as the bolts attaching the box to the carrier where to long and wouldn't allow the battery for my bike to slide back in under the pannier carrier.Lovely strong box thou..key secures.Only other downfall was seat got in the way of fully opening..

used as a storage box for 4 12 volt 12 amp batteries, plus the controller and all the wires, defo needs a third bolt clamp, i will head down to my local hardware store and get one made, the box is good, thick enough plastic and good design, good enough for my proposes anyway, holding 15kg of lead acid batteries for the ebike, the two clamps supplied seem to hold firm, even with that weight, but I will, like I said, get a third, a wee bit of silicon for the other holes you dont need is the ticket, as is getting some reflective tape, other than that, a good large box, with a secured lid for less than 30 quid, i'd do that deal all day long....

Edited review one year on:Having to add something, only a year later, one of the clips has now snapped off, somewhere I have no clue where. So actually am now not so happy because it's only lasted me one year. Not awfully good value as it turns out.Original review:I haven't yet regretted buying this item. It has been so handy.This was a must for me personally as I needed a large box that would carry my large U-lock that is very heavy. I also wanted enough room in order to put other things in the box such as my helmet or jacket. It will hold a helmet happily - I did try two helmets but it didn't hold those unfortunately! It is waterproof - also a great plus for the British weather!Now having said how good it was for me, I have had to do a few modifications which I will explain.The ready made holes were exactly the same width apart as my rack, therefore I had to drill new holes in the box and the metal straps that hold it in place and then source some nuts and bolts to hold the box to the rack as the holes I drilled in the metal straps were not threaded. Not a problem for me but others may not have practical skills like me.I also added some tool clips on the inside as I found everything inside my box bumped up and down and made a right old racket. Not a problem if you plan to just have soft items like clothes in it, bit of a problem if you plan to put your lock/lunchbox/repair tools in it. I imagine an elasticated strap would do the same thing if you didn't want clips.The lock is extremely flimsy - makes me wonder what the point of it is as one tug and its gone - hardly going to stop someone from getting inside it. This will also need modifying once I get round to it.So overall its been a great buy for me.... BUT not everyone will be so pleased, especially after having spent a fair bit of money on it.

This is an excellent rear storage box for a bike.Mounted easily on my ebike by drilling a couple more holes for bolts as my rear rack was a little different than the mounting holes on the box.Large enough to put my helmet and accessories in and is lockable.Nice thing is the hard plastic is waterproof and holds it shape where a fabric bag is not.

El baúl cumple con lo descrito, tengo un portaequipajes en la bicicleta que no es estándar y no he tenido dificultad para fijarlo con el sistema que trae. Además queda fijado de forma segura, comprobado con carga y circulando por zonas bacheadas.La capacidad es suficiente para dejar el casco dentro y aún sobraría espacio, con los 17 litros da para llevar bastantes cosas y de forma más segura que con pulpos o cuerdas en el portaequipaje.Contento con el producto, no puedo más que darle las cinco estrellas.
