GeoPalz is the first decorative pedometer and online game that allows users to earn points through physical activity. Worn on the hip or shoe, the GeoPalz pedometer uses sophisticated tri-axis 3D accelerometer technology to accurately track steps and physical activity. By logging onto the GeoPalz website, users can securely record their activity to earn points. With a simple message of "Walk to Win", kids are motivated to convert activity into points that can be accumulated and redeemed at the GeoPalz website for FREE activity-based products, sports equipment & toys. In addition to the kids' activity recorded by GeoPalz, parents can track activity for the entire family on the GeoPalz website. Many 3rd-party recommended devices such as FitBit, Nike, Garmin, Polar, WiThings, DailyBurn and MapMyFitness are compatible with the GeoPalz website. Track steps, weight, height, calories burned and consumed for the whole family. Graphs allow the parents to easily see what percentile each child fits into for each category.

Decent pedometer
I love the idea of motivating kids to exercise and my daughter enjoyed picking out the pedometer she wanted. It was easy to set up, easy to attach to her clothing and easy to enter the steps into the website. Unfortunately, she lost it at school after only about a week's worth of use. Neither one of the clasps that come with the pedometers is very good and it doesn't take much for the pedometer to fall off.If the company could come up with a better way to attach it...maybe providing a wrist band or a belt loop band as an option, I would consider buying another one. It really motivated my 6-year-old to see how many steps she could get in a day. One day while she had it she did about 14,000 steps! The website is great and we were really getting into picking goals and seeing how long it would take her to "walk to Grandma's house".If you can manage to have your kid not lose theirs, this is a great little motivator to keeps kids moving.

Great company to do business with!
This pedometer is really cute, but we had some problems with the first one we got (seemed inconsistent in terms of steps recorded.) Geopalz customer service was great and replaced the device right away. I would definitely recommend this company, though in retrospect might have swung for the newer pedometer they have now that is wifi-compatible!Also, while the clip seemed sturdy enough when placed on a shoelace, my daughter did lose hers at camp, luckily it turned up in lost and found. It would be great if they could come up with some sort of extra contraption (like a strap that could be buckled to something) for extra security.

My son and his GeoPalz
My son (age 5) loves the idea of the geopalz. It gives him a fun way to collect data but we have found he has a hard time remembering to wear it. I believe this is because he cannot put it on himself. We have it on the bit clip and the spring is extremely tight. While this is good for loss prevention he needs help with it everyday and he is at a stage where if he can't do it himself he loses interest.Wile the pedometer itself rates 3-stars I believe the website has a few issues and the phone app a few more. The recording limit of 25,000 steps a day is difficult if you want to record multiple days at once.

Daughter loves it!
I got this for my daughter in early September. She had it about a week and found that it stopped working. I contacted the company and told them exactly what the device was doing. They said it did sound like it was defective and replaced it within 3 days. Awesome customer service.Once the new unit arrived, she has worn it non-stop. It has become a daily competition to see if she can beat her previous day's steps and if she can beat my steps. The clip that comes on it is a bit tricky to get on, but the second unit we received had an alligator type clip. It is easier to get on, but also easier to lose. She loves that the website virtually tracks how far she has walked and plots it onto Google maps. She has a goal of walking from Texas to Illinois before next summer when she will get to visit grandparents in IL. :)Only drawback she has complained about is the minutes earned for games do not carry over to the next day. She only logs her steps just before bed, so she rarely gets to play any of the games because the minutes earned vanish.**6 month updateWe have now owned four of these; 3 which are still in our possession and working. Youngest daughter was the original owner and then oldest wanted one. Youngest lost her first one on a field trip as she would not wear the included tether, so I replaced with a 3 unit. Third unit got lost at recess, so we found a used one to replace it with. Of course then the 3rd unit was returned at school. Moral of this story is "wear the tether as it does help."Oldest daughter lost hers but wasn't as motivated by it, so I hadn't replaced it (and she hadn't taken youngest daughter's spare). Lo and behold she found hers this morning....in the dryer. The device had gone through the washer and dryer and is still working! 850 "steps" in the washer and 5431 "steps" in the dryer. :)

No Customer Service/Dead battery on arrival
Really wanted this item for a run/walk me and my daughter were doing. I paid extra to have it 2nd day deliver. Unit would not work after opening. Contacted customer service, I was told they would get back to me in 12-24 hours. It is now 5 days later and I still haven't heard from them. Went and bought a new battery by the chance that it was the battery. After installing the new battery the unit worked.

This model doesn't work
This Tree & Roots model doesn't work. It may be a dead battery or faulty wiring but it was intended as a gift so fiddling with the battery wasn't an option. We ordered a second one to replace the first one and that didn't work either. So we returned both. The rose, soccer ball, blue peace sign and smiling face all work brilliantly. My 7 year old twins LOVE these pedometers and their friends also LOVED them as birthday gifts (except the poor boy we're trying to give this tree & root design to.) Once Amazon confirms receipt of both broken ones, I will order a different design for birthday boy. I hope GeoPalz investigates this tree & root model because had I not had such wonderful experiences with four other pedometers from them, I wouldn't re-order a third time.
