This is the third Possum Hollow guide that I have for different rifles. I looked on the Possum Hollow web site to make sure that this guide would work for my 98 Mauser chambered for 7x57, or 7mm Mauser, before ordering. It arrived promptly after ordering and fit my rifle perfectly! It is precision machined out of Deldrin, a high grade chemical and solvent resistant plastic, and it slides into the bolt bore quite tightly. Like all of the Possum Hollow bore guides it does not come with a solvent port but you can order one from the company and it will slide right into the socket provided in the end of the guide. Personally I prefer this lack of a solvent port because this way I can drill in my own solvent port that lines up with ejection port of the rifle that I am using it on. This also gives me a hole to put a drift in to help pull the guide out of the chamber. It should also be noted that the chamber portion of the guide, with its silicone O-ring, fits very tightly into the chamber and because most chambers are tapered it can be very difficult to remove if you use a lot of force to jam it in place. The guide comes in a plastic tube, that is very useful for storage, and several spare O-rings.

Not much to say here, these work. The delrin material is impervious to all cleaning solutions and naturally lubricious. These fit the chamber much better than the universal guides that don't really fit any chamber well. You have to buy several, specific for your various rifles/calibers, but worth the cost to keep those top $$$ rifles in shape.

I bought this for my Remington 700 (270 caliber) and it works as designed. When using, make sure you first lightly place oil around the ring and then firmly insert into the chamber.In retrospect, I would NOT buy this again. I have cleaned and oiled the barrel of my rifle a few times without it and with no problems. IMO, buy this bore guide if you're not cautious when cleaning your rifle (in other words, you spend 3 minutes instead of 30 minutes doing a thorough cleaning).To summarize, 4 stars because it is a good quality bore guide (it is missing a side entry to wet a patch when in the guide). But if you care for your rifle almost as much as you do for your kids, you can do fine without it.

I love this bore guide! However, I wanted one for a 6.5 Creedmoore caliber and it’s sized too large to properly stabilize the cleaning rod in the bore. So, I use it for a 7mm-08 & a 308. The o ring keeps cleaning crud from the bore and fits the chamber snugly.
