Just what I needed in a simple fence meter
although the meter works perfectly no complaints there, I wish it looked and felt tougher. I am so used to regular multimeters like a Fluke or Klein that just are better put together with better materials and sturdier housing to protect the tool. This Rentacoop just feels a bit flimsy. You know how it is you are out there running wire for miles, you are in the dirt on rocks bending over, climbing things, and many times you just throw the tool on the ground. Better protection would be nice. That said this meter does what regular multimeters cannot do, that is to measure the voltage that comes in via the contact in spurts meaning not constant voltage. This meter activates itself the moment the contact touches your fence wire, it takes an average across three readings and displays the result. This happens instantly so there is really not much of a delay. the reading is continuous so you can leave it on and monitor the voltage for as long as you want.Prior to this meter, I would just use one of those dummy light testers that just showed you a flash of light every time the energizer sent voltage thru the wire. But what I really wanted to know was the actual voltage number at the start, middle, and end of my wire run. I wanted to see if I was losing voltage due to distance or vegetation and how much actual voltage I was losing. This meter gave me all the answers by showing me exact voltage values not just a flash of light.A nice bonus is that you can use this meter as a regular volt meter too, so if you need to quickly check the voltage on a battery to your car, solar setup, mower, etc, If this unit had a continuity tester it would be golden, but too bad it does not.Comes in an ok soft case and a tip cover which will probably just get lost but you really don't need it.Overall the tool does what it is supposed to perfectly. I wish it was tougher. I would recommend this tool. to anyone that runs electric fence wires.

Easy to use, very straight forward.
I live on a farm and have goats, which if you know anything about goats you know they can be rascals to keep in. We have a lot of electric fencing to keep them off the fencing, as well as keep my horse from leaning over to eat on the other side. Before getting this tester I was the tester and I did not like it at all! This tester is very easy to use and read. All you have to do is install a battery and you're good to go. I love the carry case it comes with, it helps to keep the wire protected.

Voltmeter
This voltmeter is lightweight. It’s definitely one of those things you just have to have. I had let someone borrow mine, and it never got returned. So I figured it was about time to just grab a new one. This voltmeter is made by Rent A Coop. I have purchased a couple other products from them and have been pleased with the durability and craftsmanship. The voltmeter comes with a guide. The guide has detailed instructions on how to test if you’re not familiar with it as well as a picture which identifies the pieces of the voltmeter. It does require a 9 V battery. The 9 V battery is not included in this kit so that is something you do need to have on hand. Once you do have the battery, it does fit nicely into the back of the unit and the door slides on for easy latching. It's a very straightforward mechanism and it works well. It also comes with a storage bag which I really like. The storage bag is a faux leather material with a loop on the back. You can put this on a belt loop or even just hang it up. I like to store mine inside the bag in my garage. It keeps it clean, fresh, away from any dirt and bugs. Plus, I always know where it is and it’s ready to use. Operation is extremely simple and I am overall quite pleased with the voltmeter by Rent A Coop.

Buy your own battery, not included
We needed this to test a fence we had put up. I had to go purchase a battery for this, it was not included. Putting battery in was a matter of getting rid of excess cord by threading it back into a hole then battery fit. This actually has a great readable panel that I can see. Other than the little issue of no battery, this has turned into something that actually works great and highly recommended.

Much better than zapping myself to see if the fence is working
Doesn't feel of high quality but electronics these days keep getting smaller and lighter. Have a grounding wire is essential to know if the test is fairly accurate. I tried a couple without grounding wires and they were junk.
